Damn John, you really are cramping my style. If I carry all the tools that you

Hey Everyone!!!
Pam and I have finalized most of the details for the MITM...after a grueling
four hour session the other night we came up with some figures and worked out
most of the details...loads of variables to juggle...we made this as fair as
possible for everyone and tried not to step on any toes...I want everyone to
have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!
Most will arrive Friday night and will be greeted by a complimentary
chili/hotdog or Brat dinner complete with either beer or soda and one BIG ASS
BONFIRE. Plenty of snacks and such will also be available. Saturday and
Sunday morning we'll have gallons of coffee and donuts...Saturday lunch and
dinner is up to the individual. There will be an optional pig roast Saturday
evening and cost for this is still unknown...probably around 10.00 bucks or
so for all the beer, music, and pig you can stand.
Included in this price is one "T" shirt, food for Friday night, Coffee/Donut
Breakfast Saturday & Sunday morning and a camp site for the weekend....all
for an advance price of 35.00 a person for the weekend excluding the pig
roast.
For those motelling it (yes, there is a couple) and those late arrivals on
Saturday the cost will be 20.00 a person in advance.
All money will need to be here no later than the 17th of May so we can order
the "T" shirts and get the food. No advance money then no "T" shirts...extra
"T"'s will not be available at the event.
Extra "T" shirts over and above the base price of 35.00 is 8.00 dollars each.
For those that don't reserve a space and send money ahead it will be 30.00
dollars at the gate for each person and no "T" shirt...but you are still
welcome!

It's getting close to that time of year again...MITM 1995 June 2-4th!!!
It'll be at the same place as last year in Staunton, Illinois at the Forest
Lakes Campground. Location is Exits 41 and 44 off of I-55 and the road runs
parallel to and west of I-55.
Phone number is 618.635.2644...call for a brochure cause it has directions.
I've already reserved the same section we had last year. It has three cabins
with possibly a fourth before the MITM.
The large cabin is 52 dollars a night for four but will sleep six at an
additional 2 dollars a person.
The two smaller cabins are 26 dollars a night for two but will sleep four at
an additional 2 dollars a person.
More than enough space for tents around the cabins.
A good faith deposit of 20.00 will be required which will be used for
t-shirts and for the space if ya don't show...e-mail me privately for a
confirmation, t-shirt sizes and quantitys, ques and an address.

Last year a few of us from the Harley Digest got together at the first
ever MITM (Meet In The Middle). It was not organized beyond determining
where we would meet and the dates. No games, runs, or special events...
just an eyeball to put some faces to people who had been contributing to
the DIGEST, around a bonfire with a few cold ones. This is a burgers
over the grill kinda thing with optional runs to a nearby eatin places.
The meeting place is a rather large KOA-type place in a rural setting
with RVs on one end and primitive campsites (with a cluster of cabins)
on the other end, separated by a couple of small fishing lakes. The
cabins are few (in fact they may be all reserved by now) but the campsites
are many. I'm sure other suitable accommodations could be found...as
I said its just outside St. Louis.
Those attending last year came from Alabama, Ohio, Indiana, Chicago,
St. Louis, and Kansas City. I'm not sure who else will be there this
year but I can almost guarantee a 100% recidivism rate (look it up)
plus I can think of at least five more that I know about, two from
Texas.
The organizer of this event, Mr. Jimmy Johnson, aka Cheezie,
a certified know-it-all HD mechanic, author of tech articles to various
moto-mags, helluva nice guy and ASSHOLE wannabe, has graciously permitted
me to extend this invitation to my fellow barflies at the RMH VB&G.
I think you would enjoy this get-together...its a sleeper. Hell it may

Well I have been ranked by the best in all catagorys. Tonal quality,
duration, and cling factor. I don't think you know who you are
dealing with here. I was raised on Mexican food, cut my teeth
on Asian food, and can put away 8 doz of NY's finest hot wings
in one sitting. I was thrown out of the Lostsa Hotsa store at the
Mall of America last year because I embarassed them at there
free sample counter. I have yet to find any hot food in the upper
midwest. The hottest food I ever had was a doz nuclear wings
at a place called the Blue Moon in Vestal NY. Took me a good
20 mins to eat them.

I've made Mr. Alt.Tasteless (for two years running) gag with
only a mild beer-fart and I puke blood as a hobby. Trust me, even
the damn *cats* leave the room when I'm in form. The best way to
ride with me is to have me in your mirrors. Trust me on this. I
can't stand my *own* farts, and as we all know your own farts are
supposed to smell OK.
Personally, I blame Stafford since he isn't here to defend
himself at the moment. No doubt he'll yank that cushy seat from BB

directions I gave were wrong, everybody made it there with no
problem. Didn't have any problem recognizing each other - we were
the only folks carrying around our helmets. It also helped that Tom
has his picture on the Winona server. The very nice waitress even
took a couple of pics of us so we could send them in the John.
Tom brought his HD Bible for consultation on Bill's dyno-ing
his Dyna. We also sang some Mantras to the kind HD Gods, for our
continued good luck in riding, while tipping a few.
Great company. The food and beer were excellent. BB's Bitter
Brew is not bitter and has a very nice fruity/woody flavor. 2
glasses up from me. I also tried their American Wheat beer - was
rather disappointed after tasting the Bitter Brew.
Everyone got to show off their bikes, even attracting the
attention of a pedestrian who came over to talk about his LowRider.
We are tentatively planning another MITM in Dublin in a few
weeks. There is a place there called Sunol Alice's (is that right
Tom?) that has 30 brewtaps. And if it qualifies as a restaurant,
maybe I will bring my kids for Tom to play with. ;->
I hope all of these fine folks will again consider my
invitation to a MC campout next weekend. Any other takers???

You dudes might want to steer clear of the Quad Cities. There are two
Nuke plants owned and operated by the outfit I work for, Commical
Edison, located there. It has been said, (and I can't confirm this),
if you spend over an hour within a two mile radius of either facility,
your thingies will glow in the dark for ever more, sauce or no sauce.

I've been keeping tuned to conditions for I-70, my route to MITM. In '93 it

Believe it or not I have never had the opportunity to eat at the KC Masterpiece.
May top 3 favorites are:
1. Zarda's
2. Wyandotte
3. Rosedale.
Rosedale was the first rib joint in KC and the one by which all others are
measured. They have the some of the best sauce. Wyandotte was started
by a former employee of Rosedale back in the late 50's early 60's. The reason
I rank Rosedale last is because if they are having a special($8/slab) they are not
the best choice of ribs. Zarda's is a new upstart(by KC rib business standards).
And quite good. But there rib joints are almost to upscale. Very good food but
they give you real plates. Wyandotte you used to just get the tray or newspaper.
Now you get paper or styrafoam(sp) plates. Wyandotte and Zarda's run neck-n-neck
in the rib catagory. Wyandotte sauce is a little bit more spicy than Zarda's.
Wyandotte originated in Wyandotte couty(poor). Zarda's originated in Johnson county
(rich). But they both have rib joints in both counties. Don't get me wrong, you can
get good ribs at just about any bar in any one horse town with in 50 miles of KC.
There is one place out by Louisburg Ks, don't remember the town. But the place
used to be a bank that is now a rib joint.
Speaking of Texas style bar-b-q. My favorite is County Line Bar-B-Q. There is one
just outside of Austin and another in Houston. They serve it country style all you can
eat. Outstanding bar-b-q.

They are routing traffic up & over to route 40 (National rd.) it's only
a 10 mile detour at worst ( I was just on it 2 weeks ago) - it should
have no bearing whatsoever on those of you from MITM going up to see
Eddie - unless you're really fucking lost - you take I-70 to Columbus
where you then get on I-77 North to Cleveland. Hope this helps.

"Here" is right East of Cambridge, OH. A section of I-70 caved in and there
is a rather convoluted detour up-and-back on I-77 to get around it. Count on
15-30 minute delay depending on traffic. I've been getting around it by
taking Rt. 22 from Pittsburgh to Cambridge. Then you can hit 40 or 50 or get
on 70 (you are now West of the problem). That's a much prettier drive than
taking the Interstate anyway. However, based on the info. provided by Ivan
and Cheezie I believe myself to be the most Easternly MITM attendee and the
only one that will have to deal with this shit on the way there.

No, I think you're getting several places mixed up. The place in
Dublin is called Judy's Lyons' Brewery Tavern, AKA Judy's, AKA
Lynons'. Judy used to run the tavern in Sunol right next door to
Lyons' Brewery. WHen Sunon burnt down, the brewery wasn't
rebuilt, but Judy rebuilt her tavern in Dublin, and renamed it
in honor of the Brewery. It's a very convivial place, excep
tthat they don't allow smoking in the bar. They have food, and
usually live music. I don't know about children, although I
remember having seen crawler's there in the past. Best to check
beforehand.

I wonder if that incredible BBQ place in downtown (;-)) Grapevine, Texas is still there?

and the Brisket House are probably the best in Houston, but

I finally got around to checking the route on the map. I don't remember
all of the roads. I'll send it to you tomorrow. All I know for sure is ribs
in Rock Island fpr lunch and brats in Stauton for dinner.

direction I was headed.

2nd, on the way to Denton is a town called Ponder. Absolutely the best
steak in Texas. Next door is a custom boot maker located in the former
Ponder State Bank building (1st bank Clyde, of Bonnie & Clyde fame, *tried*
to rob....the bank had folded 2 weeks before he got to it and had no money).
btw, name of the steakhouse is Ranchman's Cafe. byob & ya gotta call
ahead to order a baked potato (hey, they only bake the number ordered!).

Been looking for good Mexican cuisine since I got here. It ain't
to be found. Sort of a midwest flair to Mexican cooking. Everything
seems to be smothered in green sauce. I think even the Margaritas.
Speaking of Margaritas, they aren't even served in proper glass. They
come in what I would call a root beer mug. Now, tell me that isn't
strange.

Colorado is just the northern part of the *Texas Ranch*. There wasn't much

Uh uh... It started raining in Big Denver before I even LOADED my
truck. Now--the rain that's been hammering us this last week IS my
fault. I ordered it from REI. Got a great deal with my Washington
State coupon too!
