We came close to turning back when we checked in. I was given a
message of a death in the family. My Aunt, who had terminal cancer,
had quietly gone home, that very morning.
It may sound cold to some, but I was raised to do good for others and
that life is for the living. Aunt Rita would not wish to be a damper
on a celebration of life.....I believe she joined us in celebrating
Eddie's birthday!
I was starting to get nervous...who the heck were all these people?
What the heck were we doing there? Have I ever top posted?
How can someone you've never met be so important to you?
Then I saw Eddie and Ann by the fire.....as tired as he must have been
by that time....did you all see the glint in his eyes as he looked
around at his *family*??
I knew why I was there, I know I will be back. I had become part of
something so big that words just fail.....
I came quite close to lying at one point, I was talking with Ann and
she inquired as to why I was in a chair, but she knew. As Moms, and
sisters of life, our hearts ached for one another.
I cried and held my little angel close that night. I thanked God for
all the friends that have stood by me, and for having the ability to
*pay it forward*.
We ride motorcycles, we know the dangers involved. I will continue to
ride, especially for those that no longer can, and we must always
stand together, or we stand the chance of falling alone.
If you haven't gone before....GO!!! Those that were there....I am _so_
proud to have met you all! You are an amazing group of people!! God
bless you all!
AND I have to say......the condition of that van is intolerable, and
dangerous!!
I, personally, live in fear of Tori and I having a vehicle break
down...what the heck would we do??
Just imagine Ann and Eddie trying to find help when that van shits the
bed!! Seriously!!! Think about it!!
And then PLEASE dig into your pockets and help out all you can!!
Every little bit helps!!
Eddie Kieger III will always ride with me!!!

It was great to meet you, Traci, and my

I hope to see you next year, if not before.

>I was starting to get nervous...who the heck were all these people?
Yeah, I've been saying that since my first EKR in 1997. That year I
encountered SunShine playing with angle worms, and went after Putt
with a battery-operated fan when he broke out the cigars.
There's a great story every year -- this year, part of it was meeting
Traci and Tori!!!
Look forward to seeing you back there again next year, and with a
little luck, someplace up nort' in between now and then!
WF
It was great meeting you, Tonia, and Danielle. I took a closer look
at your tattoo on your Web page. What a great idea. And cool ink.

That doesn't sound cold at all, Traci. She sounds like a wonderful
lady. My condolences.
Here's to Aunt Rita!

I'm glad to have met you, too. I think you are an amazing person. Next year,
we ride!
I remember talking to you about Eddie... I'm glad you got a chance to make
the trip. I'm still hoping to one of these days... I'm working on something
that may allow traveling a bit more than we've been able to do for the past
2 years.

Sorry for your loss Traci. I think your aunt would be proud of you.

I'm sorry to hear about this, and pass on condolences from the
Shein's, and commend you on continuing forward in your journey.

> I was starting to get nervous...who the heck were all these people?
I've been going to the EKR's for 6 or 7 years now, I remember the
first one vividly. The exact same thought passed through my mind (ever
so briefly as there is not much left there to slow it down). But after
that first encounter IRL with those present at the EKR, I was hooked
and the thought never crosses my mind now. Each EKR, is like a
homecoming to me and my family.

There are no words to describe it, you have to come to an EKR to see
what it means to you.

Can't say that any better...

I've spent a lot of time with Ann and Eddie and that van, and can
state that it was bad a few years ago (we had to go through the manual
lift operating procedure, in case the electrics failed). The problems
then were not as life threatening as they are now. A badly rusted
frame and body, could allow deadly fumes to enter the vehicle. Eddie
needs a new van, donate, buy a patch, or put something up for auction.
>
> Eddie Kieger III will always ride with me!!!
He's with me in good weather and bad...I know he'd give anything to
feel the rain beating on his face again.
Steve
Well, if there is a way, I know you will find it! I should be getting
some info early next week, which I think might help you and your
lovely bride. I'll be sure to forward it on.
And thank you for the info on Eddie. A true life changer!

It was a pleasure to meet you, as well. Hopefully, I'll be riding Doc
when next we meet! Can you teach me how to *sky* my sidecar? <g>

I'm hooked! It's definately a *family* gathering I'll not miss by
choice, that's for sure.

I'd love to take credit for raising that young lady, but I can't. We
borrowed her for the weekend. lol I was real proud of her for jumping
right in to help, as were her parents.

I'm sure he would!!
I'm sure this has been thought of, and please tell me if I am crossing
any lines, but is there _any_ way that Eddie could be gotten into a
sidecar?
Just a thought......

Looks like I just got the weekend of Sept. 19th for *adult time*.
Anybody heading nort' then? <g>

At this point, highly unlikely. He's atrophied pretty badly and can't
stand. He would have to be poured in. Plus, he's pretty tall. Nice
thought, and with his new massage therapist, anything may (again) be
possible.

Hmmm, that's a loaded comment!
Thanks Traci, I'll be looking for the info from you. I hope my trip to
Monroe, La this weekend will have us a step closer to making some decent
trips.

I'm glad your first IRL was so positive. I just wish I'd have been there
with ya'll.
