I've heard Harley now has a Twin Cam 88B engine. What's the difference
between it and the Twin Cam 88A. Are there any good web pages that go into
detail on this engine?
Thanks,
Anthony

TC88B are the "balanced" ones which reside on Softails. The original
TC88's are all rubber mounted on Dynas and Touring models (FL's).
Of course, I'm a Sportster rider, so I really don't know shit about
'em.

Chuck,
I'm no expert, but I do know that the 88B has counter-balance cams that
reduce engine vibration. They only offer it on softtails because the engine
is not isolation mounted like on the dynas. Also, on carburated models with
the 88B, they put a plug on the fuel overflow so you have to turn off the
petcock when it's parked or fuel can leak into the engine (I don't know why
though). I have an FXSTB with the 88B -- no complaints.

That petcock is vacuum operated. It won't allow gas to flow
when the engine isn't turning.

Still always a good habit to turn it off anyway....
