Excellent advice.

If you are that new I don't think you will go too far wrong with any
'92-'95 YZRMKXCR. You may want ot consider putting a Steahly weight
on it for your trail riding excursions. As soon as you get it change
the fork oil and have the shock serviced unless the previous owner can
show you receipts. I can't really say about which engines are more
user friendly. I do know the CR is a tractor with a heavy weight on
it.
Some general bike looking at advice.
Look at his house/yard/car. Does he take good care of his stuff?
Just because he raced it does not preclude you from buying it. A
well cared for race bike is a better deal than a neglected trail bike.
Good luck,

IMHO it is a very good bike and I am VERY happy with mine. It was also rated as
the best 250 by most publications in 94.

Any 250 mx bike will "hit" like Mike Tyson on Angel dust compared to your
thumper but after riding both 94 Hondas and Kawasaki I would say the Kaw hits
much harder than the Honda ( both stock). The Honda has broader power and is
very powerful, just easier to handle. I prefer the Kaw. If you go green let me
know and I will exchange setup info with you.
Go green my friend, go green.

I am new to Motocross bikes. I have been riding a Honda 250X ATV and
want to change over to a bike. Tonight I am going to look at a '94
Kawasaki KX250, is this a good bike?
I'm looking for something in the $2500 - $3200 price range so I figure
somewhere between a 1993 - 1995.
My buddy said I should look for dents in the frame, slop in the footpegs,
play in the swingarm and Wheel hubs.
I like Honda's but I heard they hit really hard, I am not as familar
with 2-strokes as I am with Thumpers.
I'll mostly be using this on the track, but will want to take it trail
riding once in a while.
Any response would be appreciated.

Hey, I don't know how much this helps but I just bought a 94' with a
few performance modifications and I can honestly say it is flat out
the fastest MX I have ever road the only draw back I see to it is that
it is hard to keep the front wheel down, handles great, fly's real
good so far so good had a little trouble fouling plugs ?
I don't know where you are located, but I have a pal that has a 95
KX-250 in the North Dallas area and I believe he wants in the $2800
range.

I am selling my 94 YZ 250. Never raced. Used in woods about 15 times. I
bought it new in 95, and did not use it at all in 96. I have ridden it
about 4 times this year.
Bottom line is that the bike is in absolutely perfect condition. The
plastic isn't even scratched.
I am asking for $3200.
Let me know if interested.

OK, I thought I was the only one who did this, but now that Steve has
let the rest of the world know my "secret", this is EXCELLENT advice.
Look at his car, his lawn mower, anything that might have a motor that
can be seen from wherever the bike is located. I've NEVER met anyone
who took care of their bike and neglected everything else (mechanical
anyway ;) )
: Good luck,
What he said!
