Seriously. One of my employees brought me what seems like a nice
bottle of tequila from his Christmas trip back home to Mexico. I
really don't enjoy drinking alcohol, but a week or so ago I thought
I'd give it a shot. (pun intended) So, I crack open the top,
and...there's some weird looking clear plastic THING inside that is
preventing anything from coming out. How the heck do you get the stuff
in the bottle out? It's kind of...like the center of a flower, with a
5-lobed petal shape, and about a 1/8" dia. hole in the center, but
it's not really a hole, otherwise the damn stuff would pour out. grrr.
I know I won't like it, but now it's becoming an obsession...helpppp

I know you have a drill

Is there a ball inside? If so, just shake it upside down real hard and
be careful of the flying tequila all around... The ball might have
stuck... We, uneducated third world people need this to prevent
dishonest people from tampering with the booze... If that fails, a
drill is not a bad idea... :-)

Pretty good tequila, Charles. It's of the level of sipping tequila,
and leaves a slightly lime taste in one's mouth, even when one doesn't
use the salt or lime as one would with Pepe Lopez or the cheaper
tequilas.
I like blue agave tequila, quite a bit. <G>
I have also have had a problem with the "check valve" cap on a bottle
of El Jimador, which is supposed to make it come out of the bottle in
a controlled manner, and also keep the bottle from "breathing", which
keeps the tequila more fresh.
The mechanism on the bottle in question worked fine, until I pulled a
suction on the bottle, trying to drink directly from the bottle.
I ended up just poking a screwdriver through the plastic mechanism and
then having to watch and make sure that I didn't drink any broken
plastic. Mike's drill idea seems more sanitary, and less crude. (Hey,
what can I say? <G>) It still went down very well.
