Before you buy.
I haven't had it trail riding yet but I think it's going to be a great bike
for that. It seems to have better low end torque than the 250XRL that I just
sold but maybe not as much top end. The seat is a little more comfortable,
It still puts my butt to sleep but I don't think it's going to chap me until
I bleed like the old bike. I'm 48 years old and 240lbs so I don't stand up
to ride as much as I used to. It's a couple inches lower and has a little
better steering geometry for trail riding. The lower center of gravity and
better steering geometry will be a lot less fatiguing. It's got electric
start but no kick starter at all. The digital instrument cluster offers two
trip meters, odometer, a clock, and a speedo but I was surprised that there
is no tach. I was also a little surprised to hear it. It's a bit louder than
the Honda and has a definite THUMP at lower RPM's but quiets out as the RPM
increases.
I'm happy now and I think I'll be happy after I get it on the trail. It may
not fit the image that some people are looking for but it's peppy enough for
serious trail riding and scooting along the back roads. I used to surprise
the kids by keeping up on smaller bikes (Yamaha 175MX) and I think they are
going to be surprised again. They won't call it a girls bike for long!
Other people comment too please?

I'm interested in the Sherpa and the Yamaha TTR 250. Both are
electric-start, air-cooled.
The TTR is a 6-speed; is the Sherpa?
Stroker and Thumper each offer a 325 kit for the TTR; do you know of any
big-bore kits for the Sherpa?
Can you retrofit a kick starter on the Sherpa?
What does the Sherpa weigh?
Are you going to change the front fender to a high-mount?
Are you going for a plastic gas tank?
Would you let me know how things develop as you get the Sherpa out onto the
trails?
Thanks,

From what I heard and understand, the new trials bikes by Bultaco are called
"Sherco" (huh? bleh) because in the period between the existance and
non-existance of the Bultaco marque which they just recently ressurrected it in
'98, Kawasaki got the brand-name rights to "Sherpa." Tora, tora, tora all you
KX owners. :-)
