I have an old Honda Trail 90, serial number CT90 - 127733. It is
complete and stock. The key switch is below the seat on the left hand
side, and the air intake is in front of the motor. Can anyone tell
me what year this is or what it might be worth????
Thanks!

BTW....the bike is red, has the old leading link front suspension, but
also has the dual range transmission. My first bike was a 1971 Trail
90.....this one is quite a bit different (older) than that one. The
carburetor sits over the intake valve cover which looks weird. The
engine, chain guard, wheels and rear fender look the same as the 71.
The gas tank is elongated, as well as the seat. The rear rack is red
and smaller than the chrome one of the newer models. Headlight and
speedo housing is smaller, too. Front fender is kinda short and wierd
looking.

Call the local dealer and give them the serial number; they should be able to
tell you. Also, look near the fork stem, usually behing the headlight/trim
assembly for a "builders plate" that will have the serial number and the build
month/year. This plate may not be there on your machine; it's just a common
place for that information.

Is the engine an OHC (overhead cam) or an OHV (overhead valve) type? Does it
have the internal low range gearing or does it have dual rear spockets? Honda
may even still make the critter, although it doesn't often grace the floors of
most dealers showrooms.

What it's worth? I don't think you're gonna make a financial killing with it,
if that's what you mean. I wouldn't doubt you could find some group out there
in cyberspace hooked on old Honda Trail 90's though. What it's worth is the
enjoyment you'll get fom riding it, maybe restoring it and keeping it in good
condition. It's a Honda....glaciers will melt before your Trail bike will wear
out. Have fun.....

I don't know what year it is, but I have seen people asking anywhere from
$300 for junk to over $1000 for really nice ones. Old small Hondas are
crazy in the prices they bring. I got lucky and bought a nice CT-110 at
the AMA Vintage Days last year for $325.

If memory serves me, it was around 1966 (maybe 1964) that Honda added to
internal hi-lo range output shaft. Prior to that they had the dual rear
sprocket setup. It was sometime around 1970 that Honda replaced the psuedo
leading link pressed front forks with telescopic forks. A the same time they
moved the air filter to the side of the gas tank, with the intake by the rear
wheel (real dumb).

Sounds like your bike falls within this range. A clean, well running bike has
great value among the motor home crowd. Makes a good scoot when the motor home
is parked.

Both questions can be best answered by your dealer. Bring in the frame
number stamped near your steering head.

Most likely a 1966 to 1968 bike. 1966 was the first year for dual range
trannies.
