Thanks,

: Can anyone recommend a quality enduro (racing) jacket? Personal prefs?
: None of the local shops even carry one in stock. If I'm going to order
: from a catalog I'd like a few leads first. Have any mags done shoot outs?
: Any catalogs on the net ?????
I ride with a Moose XCR jacket. It is cut such that it may be worn over
armor with a full camelback hanging off the back of the armor.
Side zippers allow it to be put on/taken off while wearing a helmet and
armor.
It is zipper vented on the forearms, armpits, chest and back. An elastic
draw string cinches the waist. Ballistic nylon covers shoulder and elbow
impact points.
An integral stuff pouch and waist belt in the back pocket allows you to
pack it away and strap it on when not in use.
I wore it in a rain/hail/sleet storm while riding a spirited pace (we
wanted to get over the ridge before the lightning took us out) and the
only place I got wet was on the forearm where I forgot to close the
vent zippers.
Best price I've seen lately is Baja Designs. See their web page at:

any of the MSR are good, they have Gore Tex tape on all the seams and the
keep you dry. If you can stay dry, then you can stay warm. Plus they have
vents to control the temp.
Graeme D.
I also recommend the Answer off-road jacket and the MSR Pak-jak. They're both very
weatherproof with plenty of room to dance around in.

Actually, it's the January issue of Dirt Bike. It should be hitting the
newstand any time now.
I've asked Santa for a Moose XCR jacket. It tested as one of the top
jackets in the shootout.

We don't stop riding because we get old, we get old because we stop riding.

Check out Dirt Bike Jan. 1996
It has an Enduro Jacket Shootout.
Haven't read the article yet.
It may be of help.

"You gotta be crazy to ride like those guys!"
This jacket was tested by Dirt Rider when it first came out, and got very
high marks for use in "tough" conditions. I use it in the winter and
fall a lot. (No, that's autumn, I don't fall that much!) It was
significantly cheaper that the MS offerings of the time, and offered
comparable quality. It is, of course, longer and warmer than the ones
tested in January Dirt Rider.

The FOX ORA jacket has the feature with the addition of removable
sleeves.
Good luck

The other jacket I might consider is the new moose jacket. The only
downside I see to this new jacket is that it is not waterproof, but
extremely water resistant. For riding here in Oregon, there are definitely
times that I need to be "waterproof-ed"

It was the January issue of Dirt Bike. Santa must have read it, since I
got a Moose XCR jacket for xmas. Haven't had it on the trail much yet,
but I did take a street ride in 40 degree weather yesterday. Seems
pretty nice, with lot's of room for armor and warm clothing underneath.
