I just read an article on Motocross.com. In the Bar to Bar section
with Art Eckman. Davey Coombs has died after battling another round with
leukemia. I have never meet Davey, but have just heard his voice countless
times at the races ESPN2. This is a great loss of an inspiring man. My
condolences to his family and all his friends.

The father of Davey Coombs on ESPN2 died. Not the announcer.

Davey Coombs did not die. His father Dave passed away. His father was a
race promoter who ran the High Point and Steel City national mx's as
well as the amateur nationals at Lorretta Lynns.

Careful now, it was Dave Sr. that passed away.

I'm pretty sure Dave Coombs Sr. was the founding father of the
Blackwater 100. Maybe the State of W. Virginia would permit the Coombs
to begin this race again in honor of Dave Sr.?

It is a real lose. I hope Loretta's and Steel City continue at the high
level he brought to them.

I know Art said he did shows with him but that was back when we watched
the races at 2:00am. Davey Jr was the commentator at the SX's this year.

True

Maybe the State of W. Virginia would permit the Coombs

Not if the greenies have anything to do with it.

I am sure that the drunk and disorderly fans had as much to do with this race
being phased out as the state of W. Va. Mr Coombs got tired of dealing with
both.

That is Dave Sr. The father of the Blackwater 100 and the entire GNCC series.

Any word on the fate of the GNCC series now that Dave Sr. has passed? I
always thought that it was Dave Jr. who was behind the GNCC.
