I just have convinced wife to attend. She has a cousin in Salt Lake
City and since there are reasonably cheap flights REC-LAS (via PTY,
~2500USD return), so the initial plans is spending a day or two (and a
few quarters) at Las Vegas, then renting a car to go to ISF grounds
and then visit family in SLC, returning rental there and fly back
home. 1000 miles of driving, sounds like fun to me.

We are having a spodefest next year, right? :)

If you can, try to work in the Utah National Parks/Monuments: Capitol
Reef, Canyonlands, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Zion. If you like red
rocks, you can't beat Utah!

Why can't we all just get along and do things my way?

Well them, will try to keep my calendar open.
Should be about time for me to do another.

Go fast. Take chances.

Woo Hoo! It'll be great to see you again Tiago. I won't sit next to you around the campfire, though. Will it be easier for an established married family guy to get a visa to come visit than it was for the brash young unattached guy that came 11 years ago (11 years? REALLY?).
Glad I checked in over here.

Hi Tim!

I guess it would be easier, I have a much better job now and then there's the kid and all of that, not to mention that I came back like a good boy and that counts a lot for the consul folks. Also, wife has family (Casper, WY) and we might go that route to get the visa, visiting family is common... I was 100% sure her family was in Salt Lake, but Casper is only 200 miles further from baumgartner than SLC. I will tell the consul that I'm landing at LAS and renting a car to go to Casper, which I will do, after a quick detour on the next state, one that has lots of potato plantations and nice wooded areas. :)

About the campfire... Going married will have a *huge* advantage: US Customs allow one bottle of hard liquor for each *person*, which means... We will bring TWO bottles of the finest cachaca! I have refined my taste on it for the last 11 years and let me tell you, I don't drink Pitu Gold (the brand I brought the other time) anymore, there are better (and more expensive, such is life) brands that I am making 100% sure I'm bringing. Also, I mastered the caipirinha recipe, I can do double - or even quadruple - shot and no one would notice the alcohol, all it takes is the sourest greenest juiciest lime you can find and lots of sugar and crushed ice. Can you see the danger there? lol! Unless I find coconuts in LAS, there won't be any, but I am sure someone wrote down the recipe... :) I'm really looking forward to it and barring some very unexpected catastrophe, I'm already there next year.

cheers!
