Looking to buy a 3-wheeler. Mostly for desert riding with a few trips to the
dunes. I think I've narrowed it down to these two (Honda 250R or 350X).
Which is better? Any other suggestions?

I used to have an '84 250r 3-wheeler with a 300 kit from LA Sleeve that was
ferocious. I never found a quad that could outrun it before I got rid of it
in '92. I've never ridden a 350x...I'm assuming it's a 4-stroke like the 200x
is. I can only give you my opinion on the 250...it rocks. I'm sure it would
spank the 350 in just about any given situation.

Not necessarily!

I am a proud owner of a 350x that will definitely keep up with and pass a
lot of 2 strokes. It's just about a wash with the water-cooled 250R three
wheelers and quads I ride with. My 350x has some mods, and the guys I ride
with have modified 250r's...The extent of their mods, I'm not sure of.

Anyway, one of the biggest advantages of the 350x is the fuel: It uses less
than the 2 stroke, and you don't have to mix it! I siphon regular gas
right out of my pickup, and never have to mess with separate cans, 2 stroke
oil, or mixing cups. I also never worry about the gas in the can going
sour between rides.

Don't automatically discount the 4-strokes!

Man, these are both really awesome machines. The 350X makes plenty of
torque and is really good. I have ridden a 4 wheeler with a 350X
motor in it. I have also ridden a 250R three wheeler. I think the
final decision is: do you want a 2 stroke or 4 stroke? The 250R is
faster, because I have raced both types.

Either is an awesome ATV, if I had to choose just one for the desert, it
would be an '85 250R. There's nothing like the instant zip of a two stroke.
Both are fast, and the 350X is the fastest 4 stroke ever produced. If
you find a good deal on either, you'll have a great machine.

FS - 1983 Yamaha TriMoto 175 in Ohio. 3-wheeler in excellent condition
(stickers and plastic are perfect), has been in storage for years.
Automatic clutch, 5 speed, 2 stroke with oil injection, very fast. New
tires (old ones were dry rotted - but tread shows little use). It is super
nice! Lights intact (I can't figure out how to turn them on though:-))
Asking $850.00. Ted 937-445-3725
