seems to run a bit lean... Tis a tad cold here so I'll
check into this when it's a bit warmer..
I wondered if the factory jetting is close or
is there a jetting kit that folks slap on there
on the list is give it a good cleaning
<spark arrestor included>
tighten bolts lube anything that moves
replace anything that looks warn, but the quick look
over I'd say the bike wasn't Manhandled too much
and shouldn't require much to get it into girl standard
of maintenance <my stuff I don't mind walking, but I'll
be darned if an equipment failure is going to give the ladies
a bad riding experience...> more stories & questions
to follow up as I tear into this weekend

They run really lean, hard to start as a result.
I haven't tried a kit on mine, raised the needle a
notch, 112.5 main, helped after it's warm but still
cold blooded. I just live with that as it runs great
warm.
The enrichner can seize too. Cable feels like
it's working but the plug in the carb that it
pulls isn't really moving.
Tall seat kit and Jimmy Button (tall) bend bars
are the best thing you can do to it though.
Go fast. Take chances.

TTR125s are lean on the pilot and needle but rich on the main from the
factory. First cut open the airbox and do the washer mod on the pipe
insert (just to make it sound a little like a motorcycle and less like
a sewing machine. Start with the stock 105 main. You might want to
bump it up to a 107.5, but a 110 was too rich on my bike. Change out
the stock 15 pilot for a minimum of 20, and lower the needle clip to
the bottom if you have a 3-slot needle. If you have a single-slot
needle, make a shim to raise the needle twice the width of the needle
groove. Even with a 20 pilot, my TTR required only about 3/8-1/2 turn
on the air screw (22.5 might be a better number), however, my bike
will now stand straight up with a just a crack of the throttle.

Nope - it falls w/in my birthweek, so I don't celebrate it. Yup - my
birthweek is all about ME, where EVERY day is "Jay Day".
There's Monjay, Tuesjay, Wednesjay,...

haven't really done anything bike related in a while <sigh>
mom went south last weekend dad's on his way Saturday
I wonder why I'm still up north, oh ya, that whole work thing...
anyhow hopefully this summer will bring more stories
about girls riding & general mayhem.. as of late I've been
doing 3 jobs and find little time for relief.. other than
Browsing RMD while on the phone to nuklear engineers
(they really don't require full attention really what could
possibly go wrong) anyhow, things will be lightening up
soon since I've trained a few other folks around here to
multi task rather than stare off into the distance when not on task..
I'm down to about a 60-70 hour work week, and this is a
BIG improvement... it has freed up some time for volunteer
work @ the church and jumpstarting some young kids into
starting their own businesses... things had got a tad out of balance
and I like what's coming down the pike.... more riding, more
a ha moments, less babysitting issues at work....

This is my 12 year old's bike, he's 5'3" and loves
the tall seat and bars.

No - the "washer mod" is an exhaust insert by-pass hack. The exhaust
insert (AKA spark arrestor/baffle) sits on the face of the pipe and is
held on by 3 bolts. Pull off the insert and stick some washers on the
bolts behind the insert. The washers shim the insert away from the
back of the exhaust can, so gas can escape around the insert. I used
3 'lil washers each, yielding an 1/8" or so gap. It's still super-
quiet, but brings the volume up just enough that you can tell it is
actually supposed to be a motorcycle.

And if you don't do it, it runs fine, is quieter, and is
still makes as much horsepower as wifey and kids
can use.
Kids.
Kids these days...

Right - there is absolutely NO performance change with the 'washer
mod' (regardless of what the 15 year olds say). It does nothing more
than bump up the volume a bit. It is still extremely quiet even with
the mod though - it just gives it a bit more of a throaty sound.
