Who needs 'em? We've run thousands of miles in the rocks and trees
without disc guards (and you know how we ride those miles), and the
only bent disc we've ever had came from stuffing the disc into a rock
in the side of an axle deep rut, and frankly, that probably would have
taken out the disc even with a guard. A solid enough guard to prevent
the disc from getting hit then would have more than likely been bent
into the disc itself in that impact.
I worried for a while riding without the disc guards, but I almost
never even think about it now.

Can't really say. I've been using some hand-me-down GasGas guards that
I got from Roscoe Rainey (Rev It Up on the GasGas forums) in a used
plastic deal. I'm not sure if they are OEM or aftermarket, but I think
they were OEM from a later year. I could be wrong. They fit well
(except they were made to cover a different rear master cylinder than
mine, so it hangs out past the back of the M/C) and are holding up
very well, but I am currently in the middle of a full tear down
restoration of the poor old bike, and I'm kinda thinking that my
freshly powder coated frame, new seat, new pipe, and all new plastic
and graphics will make my old frame guards look pretty ratty. They
still function just fine, though, so until I find something better
they will go back on the bike. Let me know if anyone turns you on to
something good.

You're welcome.
Have you taken advantage of the screaming Polisport plastic deals at
Motorcycle Superstore.com? It's worth buying a spare fender or 2 just
to ensure that none ever break. Fenders for $10 (fronts or rears). A
pair of shrouds or side panels for $20/pair. I bought 3 complete sets
of new plastic (2 yellow, 1 blue). It's the first time in my life that
I've replaced plastic that wasn't broken beyond repair, but at less
that $60 per set, how can I go wrong? Oh yeah, got the air box mud
flap/shock guard/tongue thingy under the airbox for $9, grabbed three
(trials tires and gravelly mud are really, really hard on those mud
flaps).
Welcome to GasGas land, Phil. Don't forget to put an air filter in
that bike (yikes!).
