Kelly Blue Book prices don't mean shit as far as dirtbikes are
concerned, unless your a dealer trying to screw someone on a trade-in.
Just try buying a bike in good condition for the "Retail" book value,
you'll be in for a surprise. My local Honda dealer sells used mid 80's
XR-200s regularly for $1400-$1600, according to Kelly Blue Book those
bikes only have an average retail value of $970. One could argue that a
dealer could get away with charging $1600 for a bike that according to
the "experts" is worth only $970 for various reasons, and a private
party could never get that kind of money, well surprise!!! I just sold
such a bike for $1500, two hours after the add hit the streets, and have
had at least 10 phone calls since. So much for the Kelly Blue Book!!!
