Having seen the '97 style tank, I don't think the KX plastic will fit. Jim Cook
can tell you for sure. I do have Acerbis black side plates and a black fender
on my '00 GasGas. I might spring for a set of the new 2001 plastic. It looks
good!

Steve,
If you find some other shrouds that fit, please let me know. The
shroud mounting points on the tank are different on the Gas Gas, than
on the KX.
We stock all three colors of Gas Gas plastic. (red, blue, and
yellow.) We also have a few black shrouds also, from the '98 model.
(Probably the last ones available right now.) They cost us way more
than the other colors, as we couldn't get them from the newer cheaper
source. (These sell for $35 each, instead of $25, like the other
colors.) We stock UFO and Acerbis plastics that fit, but the Gas Gas
plastic is generally cheaper, now. As soon as they all become
available, we will stock the new clear coated shiny plastics for the
'01 models.
It is fun to mix and match the colors. Josh would show up for one
race with an all black bike. The next race, it would have white
fenders, or white side panels. Then, he would have a yellow bike,
with a black tank and shrouds. The only color we can't get are white
shrouds. (at least with plastics that fit with no modification.)

Brandon's bike is blue and yellow. The front half is yellow, and
the rear is blue. It has yellow shroud graphics, and a blue seat
cover. (It matches his blue and yellow LBZ riding gear.)
If you want a black front fender and run the WER, use a Suzuki
front fender, as it doesn't have the ridge, right in front of the
triple clamp, like the Kawasaki does.

The new plastics, including tank, seat, airbox, and shrouds, will
fit your bike, if you replace as a whole system. I think that I am
going to put the 2000 graphics and 2001 plastics on my '99EC250,
except for the tank, shrouds, and seat. I want that new side access
airbox. I think that the '00 graphics will fit the shrouds, close
enough, and will cover up enough of the shrouds to keep it hidden that
the plastic is a different color/finish than the rest of the plastics.
I'm even going to install the new Hebo "Granada" headlight like
Mike's. It will either be the '00, or the '01 graphics. I decided to
keep the "300 EC"look.

There are a few '01 SE graphics kits available. Want a "SE"? <G>
All the "SE" graphics are yellow, though.

I'm thinking seriously about getting a blue "Kawasaki" (94-96)
Travelcade seat cover, instead of the original. I'm going to see if my
theory about the correlation of "gripper" seat covers and Monkey Butt
is true of not. I'll have to use carb cleaner or something to get
"Kawasaki" off the sides of the cover, but it will be worth the
effort. <G> I hope that the color is close enough to the blue of
the plastics and graphics. I am tired of monkey butt.

I also have a white/natural IMS 3.4 gal tank that was made for the KX
and slightly modified for the Gas Gas ('97) EC250 it was run on. It
is full of reticulated foam, to keep the fuel from sloshing. The
only hitch, is that one has to remove the "catch reservoir" and run
the radiators on the wrong sides. With this tank, you can hold the
throttle wfo for a full two hours, and still have a liter of fuel
left.
I will sell it for $125, including shipping.

Jim,
Why did you need to swap the rads? did the shrouds interfere with the
cap? I plan on ordering the blue stock plastic from you shortly, also I
plan on replacing all the linkage bearings, some have a slight amount of
play. Is the newer stock tank any bigger? I wouldn't mind getting the se,
but I'm sure the wife would have something to say about that. Is the se
dark blue or purple, its hard to tell in the picture in trail rider. I'm
still going to try some different shrouds to see if they will fit. The bike
came with black fr &r fenders and sideplates. The headlight skins you sell,
are they the hebo looking headlight or the one that looks like a kdx
headlight.

By the way rode the bike for a little bit yesterday, the steering takes a
little getting used to, too easy!

I sell the IMS 3.2 gallon tank for your bike for $175. It is a 3.2
gallon tank, and everything stock fits with this tank.

We had to switch the radiators with the used tank, because of the
shrouds. They were designed to fit the KX.. The filler cap didn't fit
with the shrouds on this tank, with the radiators on the proper sides.

We have the stock '97 headlight mask in red only. We have the '99
headlight mask in red, yellow, or blue. ($18) The special deal Hebo
headlights ($35 complete) are nearly identical to the '99. We still
have a few of them in stock. (One black and a few white, and one
yellow.)
note: If you use a headlight for the '99 or later, on your '97, you
will need the $6 spacer brackets to move the headlight forward. to get
it in front of the brake hose and barkbusters. Complete OEM
headlights are about $45.

If you are standing up while riding, you need to be ready to turn
when you shift weight to the inside peg. If you are early, you will
turn into the woods, before the turn.

I have begun shifting my weight, and giving it the gas at the same
time, to keep the bike from turning in so hard that it lays down. You
can rocket out of corners. The '97 & '98 turned a bit quicker than
the '99 and later models.

The faster you ride it in the woods, the more it will surprise you in
what you are able to do.

The SE will be whatever color that the rider wants, but all the SE
graphics that they have in stock are yellow. The 300 SE that they
had at the dealers meeting, was had normal 300 XC graphics, with a
"SE" sticker on it. It had the Ohlins forks, and gold rims and gold
anodized barkbusters, with the Hebo Pro-Taper style bars. (Hebo
Varibars)

All the new Gas Gas off-road bikes have the new DID "U" rims. They
look way different from any rims that I have ever seen. They will be
easy to clean. :-)
