My youngest son (3,5 years old) has inherited his older brothers Yamaha
PW50. I'd like to make the PW50 as much "racing" as possible, but it
seems hard to find accessories.

I'm not trying to make the PW50 go faster - just to make it look (and
perform) a little bit like big brothers KX65 - I'm not interested in
just buying a new seat cover and some new graphics.

So far, I've found (and bought) Öhlin's rear suspension and IMS foot
pegs.
I'd like to have a foot brake conversion kit, some nice exhaust pipe
(that looks like FMF or ProCircuit) and an aluminium handle bar (with a
cross bar) - I think that the downhill handle bars that mountain bikers
use could fit quite well if I could find a holder. I also consider
replacing the front fork as the standard front suspension is not
performing too well. If I only could find someone selling such things...

My son is too short to get a KTM, Pollini or what ever, that's got all
those goodies. But I might buy him one next year, if he's got the right
size then. But I'd prefer to keep him on the PW50 until he's old/big
enough for a KX60/65.

Where do I find PW50 accessories?

Not to sound like an ass but for the money your looking to put into this
bike you might as well buy him a Polini. Bill's used to make a pipe for
the PW's but no longer does. As far as what else your looking for there
is not much out there. You can put in the QT-50 gear and re-jet it to
get it out of the hole and up hill's better. Turn off your oil injector
and run pre-mix. You might be able to find stiffer springs for the forks
but they will need to be cut. If your looking for him to race this bike
in AMA he would have to run the MOD class(where he'll get smoked). I've
played with the Polini's suspension and they can be lowered about 2
inches. You can get a rec bike for about $1599 OTD or a liquid cooled
rec bike that is race legal for about $2200 OTD maybe less or a 2000
race bike for less than a Cobra and just a little bit more than a KTM.
Good luck in this venture.

I believe that DynoPort makes a pipe.

Yes, I know this is a bit stupid, my reasons of doing this is:

1. I bought this bike new in 1996 for my oldest son and I think it
would be fun to keep it in the family. i.e. the cost of the bike=0 and
even if I found all the extras I wanted it would cost me less than
buying a new mini bike.

2. The size of the PW50 is just about what my kid can handle - if you
add those extra inches of the Polini he'll fall everytime he has to
stop. Today, he can keep it on the wheels by standing on the tip of his
boot.

3. And finally, it would be kind of a project to see what's possible to
do with a PW50.

As I live in Sweden, we don't have any regular races (as the AMA). The
racing begins at about 7 and then on KX60/KX65.

Not!! i tryed it Yamaha uses a strange diameter bar so the throttle/on-off
switch wont fit right.
