Hi!

Been working waaay to much lately. Thinking of changing trades - then
big guy recommended watching Jiro Dreams of Sushi (don't do like I did
and watch it before lunch) and that confused me. I will never be Jiro-
like in my trade, that's given, but starting all over... Well, I might
start a bike shop focusing in small <250cc street bikes in the next
two or three years. Let's see.

My trail bikes are still parked. I started fiddling with the XR250, I
think I will have it running in a couple months, I really hope...
Meanwhile, I got a Yamaha Tenere 250 (not this, but exactly the same
look: http://www.ynovamotos.com.br/img/noticias/tenere250_azul-2.jpg)
for my daily commute. Yesterday, labor's day holiday, I took wife on a
90km ride, including some ST (wasn't exactly a *T*ST <g>) I am really
enjoying it, it was a nice upgrade from my old '02 Honda CG125KSE.

Kid will turn 1 in next month... Time flies!!! And wife decided she
want to see a civilized country(*) and we might go to spodefest next
year - if there will be a spodefest next year, of course.

FB is complicated to me, has a clumsy and complicated interface that I
don't really care for... I might post there when I fix the trail bike
and start actually riding trails.

Hope everybody is ok!

cheers!

(*) Justice has to be made, Uruguay is a civilized country, we went
there for our honeymoon: there isn't a better barbecue in this planet
elsewhere. You really should enjoy a meal at Mercado Del Puerto, it
worth every cent.

You need to get the Social Fixer extension for firefox (maybe Opera
too). It enables "mark as read and don't show it again unless somebody
adds a comment" and "don't show this again" functions, which make
everything cleaner. The Adblock Plus extension gets rid of ads. Both
will make your life much more pleasant.

A friend and I visited some really wonderful usenet friends (never met
in person before) in Brian Head, Utah, to ski. Incredibly non-crowded,
good snow, etc. Best skiing in my life. I love Utah.

Today is my 50th wedding anniversary.

Glad you found time to post again.

Focus is really good if you can bring some knowledge and expertise to that narrow market. Your tornado (?) expertise positions you well for that.

Be aware that sometimes the real market in your area may make itself aware to you as requests for 'side work' you seem to keep getting. 90-99% noise but many very successful businesses started out doing something else, sometimes something very different.

Luck to you!

Rules are tools for people who earn a living by drawing, no one else need rules.

In the last 3 years I've been riding a CG125, the most sold bike in the history.

My plan is basically, changing a 3 million people urban area for one that has, if much, 300,000. In that area there is a town where the local Honda dealer is in the top 10 sellers (by volume) in the country. *Everybody* rides there, from the young 18yo student going to college to the almost retired 60yo teacher going to the classes. I, for starters, want to sell cheap chinese parts to the masses, then, start re-selling old rat bikes and then, hopefully, open a tuning shop, which is my ultimate goal. Most of bike shops think that tuning is fiddling with the mixture screw (99% call it an "air" screw, even on four strokes) and or drilling holes on the air box, too bad that the people are accustomed to it. No cost on turning a screw and very little energy is used to drill holes on plastic, so, the "tuning" is usually very cheap. Charging what really takes - hours of labor and burnt fingers swapping $5 jets, precise valve adjustments, suspension adjustments... - is way way more expensive than the general public think it is.
