If the bike is stock, my advice would be to not rev it that high - power
is dropping off and it *is* time to shift!!

Yes, the XR4 does have a rev limiter on it. You are probably hitting it,
or, if you've removed the airbox snorkle without re-jetting, you are running
lean on the main. If a lean main jet is the problem, running w/o an air
filter will make it worse.

didn't realise it'd have a rev limiter. anyone know if my 1990 xr250
would have one? I always scare the crap out of myself when I slip
neutral by accident and rev the tits off it...
