Thanks in advance,
Victor.
Hello Victor,
They are the same bike, it's just that someone is using the old XR
lable on the little CRF. Honda dropped the XR name and started calling
the bikes CRFs like the newer 4 stroke MX bikes.
Good luck,
Mike Baxter
No such thing as a '04 XR80. '03 was the last year of the XR, newer
model years are called CRFs. I think that the later-year XR80s and
CRF80s are identical from at least '01 through the present.
Incidentally, kind of moot, as it's illegal for you to buy one.

Here, let me pick that nit for you.
It's not illegal to buy one.
It's illegal to *sell* a consumer product intended for children
12 and under if it has more than 600 parts per million of
lead in any accessible part. As of today, there are no
exemptions. If it's a toy as defined by the CPSC,
it can't have accessible lead.
Go fast. Take chances.

Anybody know if the battery-powered kiddie cars (like the ones sold at
WalMart) got pulled off the market? They are lead-acid battery
powered.

I'm seeing the same thing. I think the current crop of massive

that they may very well have effectively crippled/killed the whole

Bush invented the bailout. Don't forget that.
How's that TARP doing?
Only time will tell which ~$800 billion was best spent (or most
wasted).
On a brighter note from AMA:
"Motorcyclists benefit from historic economic stimulus bill
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Language that provides a tax credit for the
purchase of a motorcycle has been added to the current economic
stimulus bill, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) reports.
The AMA, working in conjunction with other stakeholders, worked
diligently to secure the motorcycle provision within the measure.
President Obama is expected to sign the bill into law shortly.
"This inclusive and equitable solution will provide much-needed relief
to riders, as well as to those who sell motorcycles," said AMA Vice
President for Government Relations Ed Moreland. "When it appeared that
motorcycles were going to be overlooked in this bill, the AMA and the
Association's members, along with Harley-Davidson and others, took our
case straight to Capitol Hill and persuaded lawmakers that this was
the right decision."
Moreland added that motorcycle riders are just as likely to have been
hit hard by the economic downturn as those who buy automobiles and
light-duty trucks. Moreover, motorcyclists typically purchase new
bikes, apparel, vehicle servicing and aftermarket equipment from local
dealers that are family-owned small businesses.
Specifically, motorcycles are included as "qualified vehicles" in
Section 1008 of the legislation. Those purchasing a new motorcycle
will be able to deduct the sales and excise taxes on their 2009 tax
returns. Prior to the actions taken by the AMA and others, the
deductions only applied to the purchase of a new car or light truck.
"We want to thank all motorcyclists who took the time to contact their
elected officials," said Moreland. "This victory is particularly
gratifying because it represents a community-wide effort to elevate
motorcycles as a recognized and viable means of transportation in
America. Motorcycles are vital to the reduction of traffic congestion,
provide efficient use of limited parking, have far less impact on our
roads and bridges, and contribute significantly to our nation's
efforts to consume less fuel. Our success today clearly indicates that
our legislators are listening."
Nothing much from the AMA yet about lead-laden kiddy bikes...

Not to the extent that we are seeing it right now. Also let's not
forget, the President can only influence Congress on how to spend, how
much to spend, and where to spend money. Congress is the only group that
can actually spend the money. The President can't spend one penny of the
treasuries money, only Congress can do that. Since we are looking at a
Democratic majority Congress, the blame falls there.
>Only time will tell which ~$800 billion was best

Please explain to me how throwing money at a bad situation has ever
solved a problem. It never has, and it never will. We are seeing a
repeat of 1929, except this time it will be worse.
Also while you're at it, please explain to me how anyone with more then
an ounce of grey matter in their head can toss around a number like $800
Billion like it was $8. The average person can't even begin to grasp
what that amount of money is, nor can they grasp the devastation it's
going to do to the economy. That's right, the economy is going to get
worse from this bailout, not better. How can the economy get better when
we all get taxed to death and not have any money to spend to boost it?
Socialism has never worked, nor will it now. I say we should have given
Capitalism a try and let these poorly run banks and businesses fold and
go under. New, well managed banks and businesses will swallow them up in
short order and the country would bounce back stronger then ever. But
no, Capitalism is now gone. Gone forever, and we are now a Socialist
state. There is only one more step from Socialism, and that's Communism.
Say hello to Comrade Obama, he's your Saviour, your Messiah, not mine.

Together helping the economy take the big dump. So no, we are not
seeing a repeat of 1929.
Although, the biggest single line item in the "stimulus" package is
a tax cut. At least this time it is more broad based than in '29
but I have no idea if that will be any better.

Dunno, seems to have started with Shrub's minions taking about
billions spent in Iraq and not even making them part of the budget.
Apparently even democraps can do it.

You've been listening to too much talk radio. I'd suggest that you do

Hoover then had to raise taxes in '32, by a bunch and in lots of
places,
to pay for the bail outs of banks, farmers, and railroads.
>You've been listening to too much talk radio.
Actually, I listen to very little talk radio. It's too one sided. I
prefer both sides of a story, then draw my own conclusions. It's the
Left that calls Obama their Saviour and Messiah. When the Right does it,
the few times they do, it's in jest. I'm just repeating what the Left
says.

Exactly what I do my friend, as I just explained above.

No, it's not well received. I'm not liking one bit of what I see coming
from the Obama administration. I'm from Illinois, I know Obama better
then the average American. I knew from the day he got the nod for the
office, it would put this country into a world of hurt. He's not going
to let me down by proving me wrong, that I'm sure of.

Worse than 6 years of Republifuck control (and another
2 if you count the last 2 with democraps in congress)
has put us?
The democraps can certainly fuck us quite well, especially
as they seem to think that dirt bikes are destroying the earth.
But I'm not convinced they can reduce our standing as
the pre-eminent country in the world any further. And
they may be able to fuck up our economy further but
I'm not convinced of that since the previous dumbfucks

This country didn't get into the mess it's in overnight. It has happened
over the course of decades. Congress has been predominantly Democrat
over the past 50 years or so. I believe only five or six sessions of
Congress of the past 25 sessions have had a Republican majority. That my
friend speaks volumes.

And the executive has been predominantly Republifuck. And they are
the boneheads interpreting laws in a way that has closed us out of
vast areas of public lands, instead of managing it for multiple
use as the laws require.
If you seriously think that *all* our problems can be traced to
Democraps, you are deluding yourself. They have certainly
caused a big part of our woes - almost exactly half. As an
example, Nixxxon called on a democratic congress to pass
the Endangered Species Act and then signed it when they
passed it.

The Cycle News that came yesterday in the mail has a blurb
that says the regulation has been put off by the CPSC for
one year, time to figure out what things really need to be
effected by the ban. But no mention of that anywhere else
I can find and the Cycle Spew website has an article dated
Feb 12 saying it's still on.
What gives?
Tami found that too, posted a link to it here a few days ago, and I
thought that meant we had a breather. Apparently, that is only a
petition put before the CPSC, which has NOT been approved by that same
august body.
There is, as usual, massive confusion. A story on cyclenews.com had a
Kawa dealer refusing to sell a throttle tube for a KLR 650, because it
was the same part used on a KX65. And then Kawasaki stepped in to the
fray, saying they had a list that dealers were supposed to use to
allow them to sell these evilhorribletoxicdoitforthekids parts, as
long as the purchaser would sign an affidavit that this part was for
adult use only.
Insanity.

Party is irrelevant, the bastards are ALL politicians and politicians survive on
power and money, both of which are in plentiful supply as long as they keep
getting elected. It takes new guys a while to get with the program, but sooner

LMAO, I like that. Problem is, we would get our butts kicked in a war
against a world as you described. Have you ever heard the meaning behind
the pistol cartridge called the "9mm Parabellum"? (Which is also called
a 9x19, 9mm Luger, or just plain old 9mm.) The word Parabellum loosely
translates into the phrase "To retain peace, prepare for war". So a
world that has no war, would the most prepared for one.

How would you fix this mess?
Nobody knows. That's the problem. Nobody knows. Point to the guy who

> Say hello to Comrade Obama, he's your Saviour, your Messiah, not mine.
Saviours and Messiahs are for people who didn't pay attention in
science class. Truthfully, I don't think there's anything to save
what's happened to our country due to the lending greed that destroyed
our housing market, then destroyed Wall Street and the retirement
funds of countless people. We sold our industry to the lowest bidder
so our "industry" can be shuffling papers and making deals or at best
coming up with new ideas. We subcontracted our GNP. We even
subcontracted our military. Buy some stock in war. It's
recessionproof.
Months ago I told my story about my years in the mortgage business. I
knew what was going on was wrong but couldn't predict how badly it
would fuck us all. If you think I was just making that up, watch this:

Personally, I think we are screwed. And the blame goes back at least

That's 80 years. Look at your original 50. Since '59 it's 28 to 20
Republifuck. Let's pick some other number and get the answer

> I never said that "all" of our problems can be traced to Democrats, but

That's not even true. Look close, it's exactly half. At least as far
as legislating and running the country is concerned.
Don't forget, Republifucks freed the slaves and lost the war
in Vietnam. Just as Democraps won WWII and created the
welfare state. Neither one is any better than the other in the
long term on getting anything right. That's not how the system
is set up.

Damnit Boy!!! That makes the $1,040.00 (including sales tax) that I
paid seem like a REAL bargain.

Fair enough, let's go back only 50 years. Since 1959 there has been 6
Republican Presidents and 5 Democrats. But it still doesn't change the
fact that Congress has been a Democrat majority over those same 50
years. Congress is the ones that write the laws, not the President.
>Since '59 it's 28 to 20 Republifuck.
28 plus 20 equals 48. We have had only 44 Presidents since day one.
Where the hell did you come up with 48?

Me? You're the one that can't count! 48 Presidents? Geesh.

Years - you said 50. Add two more years of Ike and it's
30 to 20. Years. Republifick to Democrap.
Go ahead, pick another number and get the answer
you really wanted.
And how about that Phil Gramm? Repealed Glass-Steagall
(help from Clinton) then made credit default swaps unregulated
by putting in a zinger in the aptly named Commodity Futures
Modernization Act. AIG execs are 'on the beach' thanking
him every day.
One of your nice republicans, bet he's on Rush's speed
dial.
Starting to think you got a pretty good deal, aren't you?
BBR is still running full steam, for anyone interested, since
their products "aren't designed" for kids under 12.

Yes you are correct when it comes to years of service, Republican VS.
Democrat. But you're still ignoring the very important fact that that
over those 50 years Congress has been a Democrat majority. Congress
writes the laws, not the present. Congress spends the money, not the
President.
We are now in a pissing match, and we will just have to agree to
disagree.
No sensible man would assume that a lead-product child safety law
applies to the innards of a motor vehicle. As such, the law does not
apply. The gov't, even with their as-lf-late hammer and sickle
attitude, wouldn't fine a shop w/o a warning. Being that there has
been absolutely no notification of the application of this law, it
should be ignored. If I was a dealer or manufacturer, I'd definately
ignore this until I was officially told otherwise. Unfortunately, the
big-4 suppliers are taking the overly-safe route and implemeting a
response to the worse-case senario, not that I blame them - after all,
they ARE accustomed to having nuclear weapons dropped on them after
pissing off our govt...

I've acknowledged that. You are ignoring the fact that both
parties are totally fucked up and you can't blame one and
not the other, as you seem determined to do.

No, the president spends it, congress appropriates it. Perhaps
your fundamental lack of knowledge of the way the US gov't
works is a part of your problem.
Go fast. Takes chances.

I must say that does not jive with my experience, here in RMD, or
anywhere else. I don't know where you hang out, though.
And hyperbole is the kind of humor that gets worn out quickly. Just a
hint. It wasn't even that funny the first time. Funny is a moving
target.
