I am looking at going to Hot Springs Arkansas with a buddy to check it
out. We want to rent ATV's here in dallas or there. We just want to
cruise around, take some pictures of the fall trees, and get away from
the wife and kids for a few days! We have both ridden off-road for years
but it's been a long time since I have been on 4 wheels off-road.

What ATV should I be checking out, 4x4, small and fast, big , etc. We
can also rent bikes but my buddy is hesitant to rent a bike as a
previous crash..... I just want to "cruise" around maybe try to go up
some big hills, etc. I don't know much about the area other that there
seems to be tons of places to explore.

Thanks

The Superlift off-road park has about 1300 acres of very rugged
mountainous type terrain, and a business rents atvs at the park. The
ADR cut about 10 miles of trails that we use for our annual spring
hare scrambles. (atvs race on Saturday and bikes on Sunday.
In addition to these trails, there are the "jeep treck" courses, and
the network of jeep roads.
Check out www.superlift.com
and specifically:

Tell them, "Jim Cook, one of the Arkansas Dirt Riders club members,
sent you. "
I usually stay at the Knight's Inn, because it is right at the road to
go back into the park (4 miles back), it's reasonable, and has very
"out of sight" parking. There's also a stables on the property
adjoining the Superlift Park. (Panther Valley, I think.)

If you are not worried about bikes/atvs that you brought with you,
there are many places to stay all over town and nearby.

Have fun.
