Here's the banker's perspective. The bank I used to work for published
weekly consumer loan rates (APR's) for motorcycles and they were usually
3-5% above the current Prime Rate. So take today's prime rate (8.25%)
and add 3-5% and that should get you close to what a bank might charge
for a motorcycle loan.

Of course, all banks are different. Other financing options might be
cheaper, like going through a credit union. In general, motorcycle
loans come with higher interest rates than your average car, house, or
boat loan. Probably because most of them don't hold their value as
well.

12% or there-abouts for a bike loan. I see around 10% for personal
loans.

When I bought my sportbike new, I paid for all but $2,000 worth, which
was financed. I had a 18 month loan for the $2,000. At the end of the 18
months I paid a total of approx. $200 in interest. The APR was 7.5%.
That loan was through the dealer.

Different with each institution. Check around for the lowest rate. Credit
Unions are good.

Let us assume that you will finance $2099 @ 12% for 2 years. Your monthly
payment will be $98.81, total amount paid over the life of the loan will
be $2371.44. The cost of financing will be $272.44. Motorcycle loans
all ways have a high rate due to the short term of the loan.
You would be MUCH better off taking out a line of credit against the
equity of your house, that way the interest will be tax deductible.

My credit union financed my KTM300 at 8% APR.

I don't think the prime rate is that high, its like four or five percent,
not eight.
