My brother-in-law has an 87 Yamaha XT?350 dirt bike he wants to sell
for $900. I rode it once and it seems to run ok, once warmed up.
It's dirty, but he usually keeps things up, and it has new Metzlers
on both front & back. He didn't ride it much, and just feels its best
to sell it. What is the general opinion of this bike, and is $900 a
reasonable price for a four stroke off roader??

let me know any opinions at all folks....

thanx
jeff

I'm assuming the 87 XT350 is a dual sport. Unless you plan on riding it
on the street, it's not really that good of a dirt bike when compared to
all the other bikes out there. I have a 95 XT350 and ride it only on the
street. I've put almost 9000 miles on it and have never had a mechanical
failure. It's fine for trail riding, hunting,or whatever, but for serious
off roading it's not the best mount. After taking mine off road a few
times I opted for a KDX 200 and now only ride the XT on the street. I
have to say, it has been a reliable bike that has got me to work and back
for the last year and a half, but other than that it really has no
purpose.

I thought you were going to go with an XR600R? That was your best
option. The XT350 is a decent bike, but as others have said it is not
the best off-road bike, or even a good one. The XR, on the other hand,
is.
