It's near Pi-Pi valley above Jackson Ca. A few friends have been working on
getting the place back open for events for the last year or so, The whole
time telling me come on Dave we need help. I kept telling the "If I go I
want to ride not work half the day" well was I wrong.
The MX track is just about done now the restrooms, showers and camp sites
are getting some well needed attention. The owner is working on the legal
part( Permits, insurance and that stuff) and it sounds like all is going
well.
My point is of you guys that race if you start hearing about events at
Sopiago Springs check it out because the MX track is awesome. Oh yea I did
ride one of the hare scramble loops Saturday morning and It was top shelf
also. Of course the rain we got late Friday helped a little.
I did get a few images of the place if you want to see them they are at

No Kidding, Sopiago is way cool!
If fact that whole area (Sopiago, PiPi, Elkins Flat) is some of the best
riding in NorCal. David and I raced the North/South Hare Scramble there year
before last instead of going to Hangtown. It was well worth missing the
National. We would have missed the SX at Vegas but the North/South event was
canceled this year for lack of permits as per D36. We were disappointed.
That was a similar story on last years 49er Qualifier at Elkins. No Permit!
Apparently it is becoming more difficult to secure the use of the Northern
California trail systems for events. It has me very worried.

Iv'e raced all the hare scrambles events that they have held there. It's my
favorite hare scrambles of the season, excellent tight course. Too bad they
had the permit problems this year. I look forward to racing there again.
That is a cool mx track also.

When do they wrok there? I would be glad to come up and help them out.
I spend some wekeends at Lake Pardee so getting there would be no
problem.

Not sure I am getting the full story but they were saying most of the
trouble is with the number of camp sites they were applying for? Just
strikes me as strange the way a person gets treated by "our government" when
they try to do something like this on there own land. This is not public
land.

Just about every weekend lately. The gates are always locked so you would
have to walk around them. The guys that are kind of in charge names are Troy
and Steve. I will talk to Troy later this week about this coming weekend and
let you know what is up. D T

Hey Dave!

I was looking at 'Cody's first ride'. Is that a water-cooled YZ 60 or what?
I don't think I have seen one before.

No that is a PW80. Yamaha made the air filter look like a radiator. D T
