While it's not the ditbike capitol, there are *some* trails up there.
More up the highway, north of Lowman.
I'll forward this to a friend of mine who should know that area.
When in August and is there a particular reason for Garden Valley?

I know you can get to East Mountain ATV trail from the Silver Creek Plunge
area, which is up the middle fork from Crouch. From EMATVT, you have some
pretty good options to explore.

Not nearly as many trails as Idaho City. GV is a pretty place and
there is lots of riding to be had "nearby" but you might have to haul
the bike(s) a little to get to the trailheads.

The Warm Lake area, NE of Cascade has cabins for rent, nice lake,
hotsprings, many, many trails in the area. I've only been there
twice, great riding but I wouldn't know my way around. I think the ATV
trail Chris posted about links up with this trail system.
The Stanley Basin would be another. Smiley Creek Lodge has cabins,
rooms, teepees, RV spaces and a restaurant. Spectacular views up and
down the valley framed by the Sawtooths and the White Clouds. The last
two Spodefests up this way have been based a few miles from here. As
long as you stay off the main highway, you can pretty much ride your
bike from your door to the trails, with the exception of the Williams
Cr. area.
This is the type of terrain you'll find up there:
The Frog Lk. loop is to the east, in the White Clouds. Big Smoky is
west in the Sawtooths.

Some of this is accessable from Smiley Cr., some would be a stretch.

Some more in the Sawtooths.

If you can push your trip back a week, we are having a Spode Gathering
near Featherville Aug 21-28. There is a motel and cafe in
Featherville, about 10 miles from base. We'll be riding a lot of the
trails in those photos.
