Ah, the T2 conundrum has arisen again....
identifying the XR is the easy part, who the heck can nail the 2-stroke
soundtrack used? mid 80's RM125?
and if the XR was fake, who's to say the harley soundtrack was genuine? sure
it sounds like a harley, but was it the one Arnie was actually riding?
then again who cares really, it was a great movie anyway....

Better check with some '00/'01 guys about that one Vaughn!

My theory is they used a 2-stroke sound to leave the audience in no doubt
that he was riding a 'dirtbike'.
i.e. Harley - big 4-stroke sound, XR80 - dirtbike 2-stroke sound, just to
make it more accessible to the lowest common denominator (the audience!)

Damn straight we had the Dukes on the box in Aus. I even had a special
edition slot car set with dukes of hazard cars! I loved that slot car
set .....

Well I checked on www.imdb.com, nothing about deegan or larry......
will you be posting your balls to Australia?
And that was done by trials champion and ISDE rider Lane Leavitt, who also rode
the cop-bike up the stairwell in T-2.

Nice try - that was done by lowering the bike with a crane. The crane was
digitally removed after in post-production.

They used a cable suspension to move the bike through the air until
about 4 ft remained, then dropped it. (Saw it on a "behind the
scenes" show sometime back.) It still looked painful.

My bad, Lane doubled for the T-1000 actor - but he *did* ride up the
stairwell, or was that a crane stunt also? :-)
