Yah, I hear you. Both my wife's quad and my XR have odd spark plug sizes.
I always have to dig through all my metric deep wells to find the right
one. Good thing they are 4-strokes and I don't have to worry about foulin'
a plug on the trail.

I had the same thing happen to me. I was getting ready on Saturday for
a Sunday ride after all the shops had closed. I bought the plug, then
realized I couldn't get it out. I bought a regular Craftsman deep
socket and used a Dremel to take it down thin enough to get the plug
out. Took about half an hour. Looks ugly, works great.
