i don't have one...but you might try a GAS GAS pampera...it's about 150
pounds lighter than
my duo sport and still has some power...unless you want a strictly dirt
bike...then someone else
can answer.

Some of the guys here have ridden the KTM 250 4stroke and generally had high
praise for it. I haven't read any ride reports of the new CRF250X, just some
specs in the magazines. I recommend holding off (I know that's tough to do)
until the new bikes come out and they've had a chance to be reviewed by the
magazines and the public. As always, the only magazine tests I *really* trust
is Trail Rider. If you just have to have something right now I think the KTM
would be hard to beat. I can't remember the authors, but if you do a search you
should be able to find the KTM ride report, it wasn't more than a couple of
months ago.

Isn't that a two stroke? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Your choices are pretty much:

Honda CR250F - still pretty new
Yamaha TT-R250 - pretty heavy
Yamaha YZ250F - race bike, but you might consider it
Yamaha WR250F - good potential choice
Suzuki DRZ250 - similar to the Yamaha TT-R250
KTM RFS250 - see other comments in this thread
Kawasaki KLX300 - good potential choice
Kawasaki KDX250 - more street than dirt.

The Honda XR250 might be worth considering too, but it's aircooled.

Some are obviously more tame than others, some offer the e-button,
some are too heavy to be worth considering as a dirt bike.

How long have you been riding? Are you going to try any license it
for street use? eetc...

New? There is no such beast, it's part of Hondas pictures & promises for 04.

In that case, it's really, really, really new. I was hoodwinked by
the magazines. I apologize and will go atone for it by drinking beer.

If you empty your Camelbak on it occasionally, is the XR250 water
cooled?
