Every buy something for your bike, that you thought was going to be kewl,
but was really a piece of crap?

I purchased a Maier's plastic front fender, it cracked within a week;
or that overpriced cleet seat cover with the cheap plastic insert that
ripped apart at the seams.

Replica vintage and antique motorcycle parts sold by Domi-Racer,
crap-ola!!! Ok, dirtbike related: (insert brand here) Leakproof fork
seals, Renthal chains and sprockets, K+N air filters for dirtbikes,
Splitfire spark plugs, most Devol products, modern Hi-point boots, I
could go on and on.

Yup - actually, just about everything is crap. I've never seen such
overpriced yet inferior quality junk until I started buying dirtbike stuff.
I stick with OEM now.

King of crap - AC Racing subframe.
Close second - Russell braided brake line.

More overpriced shitty quality crap (off the top of my head):
Everything made by Maier - nothing fits...not even close
Everything made by Renthal - inferior quality junk metal
EBC Brake Pads - Keeeeee...rap
Most MX boots - ANY boot should give at least 300 days wear before falling
apart, not 30
All MX gloves - suck designs...why do they all crinkle in the palm?
Most MX jerseys - glorified $5 polyester tee-shirts...where's the elbow
protection?
All "Free Ride" stuff - ugly and stupid - a serious joke for serious $$
Most MX Videos - 35 minute amateurish shorts marketed as "Full-Length
Features"

I bought one of those pieces of shit through Yamaha of Troy. It wouldn't
fit. I don't mean it took a bit of nudging........ I mean it was inches
off. I sent the subframe back to the POS AC Racing *with* my broken stock
one in hopes that they could learn something. I got it back with some new
welds and it still doesn't fit. Then one of the little cheap ass threaded
inserts fell out. AC Racing was real proud of themselves for rewelding the
POS into a new POS but it still doesn't fit.

I called YOT and explained they were brokering a complete POS. They gave me
a discounted price on a stock subframe. Anyone want a POS AC Racing
subframe that doesn't fit?

OTOH, I bought a Troy Lee Designs backpack for $80 and spouted off here
about how it felt like a cheap POS. Two years later it has held up
fabulously. I was wrong about that backpack. Good job Troy.

I'm beginning to wonder about Race Tech. To date I've broken one fork
spring and a shock spring. Hell, I only bought three springs - I'd call
that a 67% failure rate.

I got credited for the fork spring but they seem to be giving me a runaround
about the shock spring. I'm about to get pissed. I paid $797.10 for
springs/valving/tools and I did all of the work myself. I would expect the
springs not to break in half.

I ordered a new shock spring (I have to pay for it until they inspect my old
one) and a centering collar was included. It was not the same as the stock
Yamaha collar and almost ruined my shock body when the spring rubbed the
body. I had to buy new stock Yamaha parts. Also, when the spring failed it
tore the bumper. $28.20 for a new bumper and I had to tear the shock down
to replace it.

Damn... sounds like you need to quit doing those silly MX jumps and start
riding woods. Blown up suspension components get expensive fast. Hitting
trees only explodes handlebars, levers and plastic...cheap.

Tee-hee... told ya so. Keep it and hang it on your bedroom wall - it'll
make a great dirty underwear rack. Either that or send it to me - I could
use a new dirty underwear rack myself (I sent my POS AC subframe back so I
don't have it anymore ;).

I've learned the hard way to stick with OEM unless I absolutely can't (like
when I twisted my triple clamps - $500 for a bottom clamp vs. $100 for an
Applied put OEM into the "can't" category).

Some of us don't live by the woods. I, for one, have never even ridden in
the woods. I have ridden at Glamis and ridden off-road at Ocotillo Wells,
thats fun every once-in-a-while but I prefer the track.

Don't you have to own more than one pair of underwear in order to have an
underwear rack?

What's the matter with the new modern Hi Point boots (made by Alpinstar)? I
have had mine for a couple of rides. I tried on several different kinds of
boots and did not like the fit. I had Hi Points back in the 70's and loved
them--wife got rid of them at a garage sale before I got back into riding.
I knew these would likely fit and they fit great. I wish they still had the
leather straps and nice steel post/buckles--the plastic ones suck--but
that's on a lot of boots now. Other than that I think they are pretty nice
boots. White boots look cool on TV when you don't pay for them--but mud
around hear stains them and they look like crap after a while. You can use
Snoseal on the HiPoints and black polish and they look great year after
year. Replaceable Alpinestar sole insert too and the left boot has a nifty
shifter protector--my old ones did not and they had smooth soles too.

"Extra Class", Rudy I am impressed. The new Hi-points are made
relatively well, but simply do not offer proper support or protection
for serious riding, which after all is why we use boots in the first
place. Boot technology has changed over the years to produce boots that
offer greater protection and support, asside from the buckles, the
Hi-Points have not changed. If I were still racing my '64 Matador,
Hi-Points would probably be fine, but as Bob Dylan would say: "things
have changed"

A race tech seal is why all the fluid leaked out of my DT250 shock.
Hutch and Arron put in a Kayaba seal, more better.

Acerbis front fender was molded poorly, tire wouldn't fit in it when forks
bottom, shredded knobs off tire. Replaced it with a UFO fender and it was
much better.

Goodridge steel brake line. Did they not look at the bike it was being made
for ?!?! It works, that is about all I can say for it.

Acerbis plastic Ralley guards, especially the "clear" types.

They bend inwards, let the rocks crush your levers and then bend back
in shape as if nothing has happened.
I knew they were only plastic by i didn't expect them to be that useless.

100% POS compared to the now three years old Cycra Pro Bent aluminum
Ralley guards.

Almost 800? Ouch! You're rightfully pissed, then.

For 1Mio Lire (that's about $500) i got me a complete Marzocchi Magnum 45
fork with an alternate set of springs, manual, Triple clamp adaptors and
brake caliper adaptor in '95. Still runs peerless.

I think Renthal products suck. They are over priced and if the pros
had to keep them for more then one race they wouldn't use them either.

I feel the same way about Fox boots.

Motion Pro tools. Over priced pieces of junk.

I see those sentiments expressed a lot about the plastic rally guards. I
used them for 5 years on my KTM and never broke a lever or guard. I
finally swapped them for some solid Bark Busters off one of my old bikes
last year when prepping the bike for Moab, because the Acerbis ones were
a little tweaked from falling once or twice over the years, and I wanted
to make damn sure that nothing as piddly as a broken lever messed up my
Moab ride. The Acerbis guards still worked fine for smacking trees when
I was still on the bike, but had been creased enough to make me worry
about the side impact protection. Still, I didn't think they were that
bad, although I wouldn't buy another set over aluminum unless they were
really cheap (this set came free with the bike). Obviously, YMMV.
