Hi Julian,

There is a few nice shops in Warsaw. I don't know shops in Krakow or
Wroclaw, so I can't help you here.

One shop in Warsaw that you _MUST_ visit is:
TORA TORA
Targowa Street 33a, shop No.32
03-728 Warszawa,
phone +48 (22) 618 62 17
tora_to...@poczta.onet.pl

Other worth visiting are:
Jadar Hobby
Zielna Str. 8 shop No.103
00-108 Warszawa
+48 (22) 620-63-31

Pelta - great military/aviation/history bookstore and also hobby shop
Swietokrzyska Str.16
00-050 WARSAW,POLAND
+48 (22) 827-66-14

There are many others but these three are the best. Particularly Tora Tora -
it is the biggest hobby shop in Warsaw and definitely the best (they don't
carry some ranges of products, like Aztec airbrushes, but it is their choice
based on experience).

When you are in the very center of Warsaw, there is a small shop in the
underground passage near the Central Railway Station (Dworzec Centralny). It
is called Sindar and to find it you must locate the tram stop that is near
the Station on the middle of "Jana Pawla II" street. Once you are on the
tram stop (you need to figure yourself how to get there ;-) ), you need to
go to the underground passage on the end of the stop platform (go down the
stairs that are on the fair end of the platform looking from the Marriot
hotel. Not near the big "roundabout/traffic circe", but on the other end of
the platform - is is quite possible that you just used these stairs to get
to the tram platform...). Once you are down in the subway/underpass, turn
left from the stairs and the hobby shop should be the second one on your
right. You can also get to this shop using other underpasses, but the way I
described is the easiest to find it. It is not very good shop in my opinion,
and it is extremely small, but it is in the very center of the city.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if Sindar is really on the left from
the stairs... Depends on what platform of the tram stop you are on, I guess
(there are two platfroms parallel to each other). Anyway - it is somewhere
there, within 20 meters from the bottom of the stairs :-)

Julian,

There is a good aviation museum in Krakow (Muzeum Lotnictwa Polskiego) -
just next to the Technical University:
Muzeum Lotnictwa Polskiego
al. Jana Pawla II 39
31-864 Krakow,
http://www.muz-lotnictwa.krakow.pl
muz...@bci.krakow.pl
It is open on Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 16:00 (but only outdoor
exhibition on Monday as far as I remember)
Saturday and Sunday 10:00 - 15:00

In Warsaw there is no aviation museum, but close to the city center is the
Museum of Polish Armed Forces (Muzeum Wojska Polskiego) that also has some
interesting military aviation exhibits:
Muzeum Wojska Polskiego
Al. Jerozolimskie 3
00-950 Warszawa
muze...@wp.mil.pl

If you do get to Krakow - ask if you can take a look in the 'sheds' around the
back. The last time I was there they had the fuselage of the record-breaking
Me-209 V1 stashed in a lock-up garage - along with loads of other rare stuff
awaiting restoration.

In another garage, they has Ernst Udet's Curtis Hawk being restored.

In Warsaw, there are some airframes in the grounds of a museum down by the
river just along from the central square - not sure of its name - maybe the
one Pawel mentions ? They had a very dilapidated Tu-2 and an Il-2 and Il-10
next to each other - with a Yak-23 behind.

There is another one a kilometer or so away - along the river bank. It was
being set up the last time I was there - lots of ex-Soviet stuff gathered
around the back. A few tanks at the entrance IIRC - including a Canadian
Sherman (Abbot ?).

Have fun !
