It's better to have entered a model contest and lost, than to have collected
stamps.
It seems to me that at some of the bigger shows clubs might be encouraged to
look at a rather "full" display of the modeller's craft.
This would entail a bit of an expenditure on the part of the club but might
consist of a number of stages being displayed from the opening of the box,
through varying stages of assembly, painting and detailing. It might include
displays of the tools used by many modellers as well as a selection of paints,
adhesives, etc. Done well with museum quality story boards, perhaps including
photos, this might help commuinicate the art and craft of our hobby to the
"great unwashed". Just an idea.
Jerry Lannigan
IPMS Fraser Valley (Near Vancouver BC) did this using Matchbox's
Meteor. The modellers used about 6 kits, and went from the sprues
to the finished model. The display now sits in a local hobby shop.

Speaking of nude models, I really liked the idea when Military Aircraft
Preview magazine started and they finished their models au natural. It was
wondeerful to see the detail. Whatever happened to that magazine any way?

Obviously Mr. Transtasman was so... err... excited by that announcement
that he got his URL wrong. Here's the one that works:
