Greg Krasel, owner of Microscale Industries, passed away on October 6,
1998 at the age of 65. Greg's parents established Microscale's
predecessor,
Martin Krasel Studios, in 1933 (the year of Greg's birth), initially
producing
decorative decals, and later decals for models used by the aircraft
industry. Greg and his brother Ted took over the business in the early
1970s.
Later, in 1988, the company was split between the two brothers, with
Greg
establishing Microscale as the company producing the model railroad
decals, as well
asproviding custom decal printing and artwork for a wide variety of
customers. Under Greg's leadership, Microscale developed into one of the
largest
producers of model decals in the world, producing well over 2000 finely
printed decal sets covering virtually every major railroad in North
America. In early September Microscale moved into a new, larger facility
in
Fountain Valley, CA.

Greg's wife, Joie, who has been handling the business office and
accounting functions, will keep Microscale operating with the assistance
of their
daughter, Vickie Yasko. In addition to Joie and Vickie, Greg is
survived by his son Mike, stepchildren Debra and Jim, four
grandchildren, and his
brother Ted.

If you wish to express your sorrow or simply have something to say about
Greg and/or Microscale, please feel free to post it here or send it to
me via
e-mail.

I will make sure Joie gets all messages that are created.

Hey, when your talking Microscale, your talking an industry standard.
That's a hell of good legacy for any person.

My condolences to the family and I wish them the best in keeping MS going
and the standards high.

I am truely sorry to hear of this great loss. I never had the chance to meet
Mr. Krasel personally, but his reputation is sterling. Microscale was the
first aftermarket company that I ever dealt with, and I have never been sorry
for it. Please accept the heartfelt condolences of the entire Offield family.

The thing about Microscale decals is that they made me dream about building
more and more models, each getting progessively more polished, I hoped.
Greg Krasel changed the way I view my hobby, and so, in a way, my life.

Please express my condolences to the Krasel family as well. I've been using
Microscale decals since the early '70s (I still have some from then!) and have
always found them superb. Mr. Krasel built a great legacy in the modelling
industry; continuing with the same committment to quality would be a great way
to keep that legacy alive.
