Painting plastic

Hello everyone,

I am scratch building a scratch built subway train. I have been using plastic
from
soda bottles as a general purpose material to provide form on balsa wood.
Would any of you be able to recommend a good acrylic paint for this material?
Is a primer necessary? Are enamels superior?
