BTW, what, exactly, do you mean you added them to your "IPMS site"?
Wasn't aware that IPMS sponsored personal sites.
Tom
Hmmm, while I find the doggie 'model' to be a remarkable waste of time
it's his time to waste so whatever turns his crank....
The 767 crash dio makes me wonder; is it sick because it's a crashed
civil liner or because it's a crash period? I've seen hundreds of
dioramas of crashed military a/c and nobody seems to bat an eye so what
makes the 767 sick? It wasn't modelled on a real incident but could
possibly depict the deaths of many people whereas a military a/c may
only have a handful of crew at most(other than transports) so maybe
that's the problem. I thought it look rather well done but I must admit
the subject does kind of repel me, however I can't even figure out why I
feel this way. No flame intended BTW, just curious.

The 767 crash with the burned meat for victims was creepy, to say the least.
The pile of excrement, which I saw at the Nationals when it was turned away,
was just plain disgusting.
The personal attack on Sharri was vicious.
His choice of e-mail handle probably says it all. Following his site to see
what he really thinks he is did give a few chuckles, though.
All in all he presents a personna of a seriously sick individual who I, for
one, wouldn't want to associate with at any level, much less expose my children
to his particular forms of pathetic self flagilation.
Tom
>The 767 crash dio makes me wonder; is it sick because it's a crashed

Neither Mike! It's just a poor dio. Plain and simple. It had the look of a
project that started out with good intentions to be a nice, well built 767.
Perhaps somewhere along the way something went wrong with the paint, or maybe
the seams. It just wouldn't cut the muster of a "stand alone" model. So the
modeler busts it up and makes a dio out of it. I've seen it done countless
times. The thing is, no matter how much groundwork and celuclay you put on a
piece of wood, the model is still a piece of shit. On it's own, the 767
appeared to have been made by a junior.

I'd like to see pics too but don't post them here. Try
alt.binaries.models.scale
i think youre confusing it with the other model.
personally, while i dont think i would have modeled either of these objects,
i think y'all are being way too reactionary. for instance, i dont like war,
but you dont see me stinking on all your airplanes and tanks and
what are basically war toys. what would you think of a diorama of a
nazi concentration camp? is that off limits too? if so, where is this sort
of stuff written down, because i certainly wouldnt want to tread on any
toes. and then i suspect the same people who want to censor this sort of
thing are the same people who cry "PC" when one mentions swatstikas being
missing from kits or amt not supplying confederate flags for some of their
cars. get it straight people, you cant censor one thing and complain about
censorship at the same time.
and i think modelling a piece of shit is near genius, if only for the
statement it makes. and i think ipms small minded to refuse to allow
it to be shown. what, they didnt have a category for it? or is it
just "beneath" them?
and im not sure who appointed who to judge the diorama a "poor dio. plain
and simple". you forgot "imho" there i think.
imho of course.

Insead of berating a bunch of folks who are interested in scale
modeling, why don't you try entering an art show.. There should be plenty
of dim-wittet but "better-than-you" folks who would probably think you
are a genius. Just wear lots of black - artists don't like bright colors.
They really they might think you are really cool - esp if you shave your
head and get a big nose ring.

Hey! I wear lots of black and shave my head! No nose ring and I'm not
an artist...just look at my models.:(

Everyone here builds models, a piece of shit is not really that
inspiring to us. Obviously you are much better than most of us. I
never in a hundered years would have had the imagination let alone the
talent to make a piece of crap. I capitulate - you are the best dammn
modeler there ever was. Now will you go to one of the arts newsroups
and leave us mere mortals here to squander over things less wordly than
dog shit? PS take your other account (flyby) with you. It is obvious
that this is you posting responses to yourself.

To all the Goodie two shoes PC merchants
What is the difference if someone creates a crash scene dipicting a
WW2 aircraft? I hear no complaints about that.
There looks to be a lot of hard work put into this. It wasn't a real
incident so what is the problem? If it was then the bad coments would
be justified.
To person who made comment "This should be in an art show." isn't
model building an art?
To person who made comment "Anyone can place third in blah blah
contest", what is your claim to fame?
That's my two cents worth.

To everyone,
Please take a little more time to read all of the postings in a thread before
making disparaging comments. In particular, some care in quoting would be very
much appreciated. I never wrote the quote attributed to me above; in fact my
post was to point out the illogic of depicting military crashes while abhorring
civilian incidents. The indiscriminate quoting twisted my words.
<<Long time RMS reader getting annoyed with idiots.>>
In general, the best thing to do is avoid idiots. In this case, I responded to
set the record straight.
