I'm looking for advice on the paint colour(s) used by the French
airforce in the cockpits of their aircraft in 1940.

More specifically, I'm looking for information as to the colour used
for the interior of the Bloch 174. - I've started a build of the
recent Heller reissue of their 1/72nd kit of this aircraft. According
to the instructions, the basic cockpit colour is quoted as Humbrol 76
"Matt uniform green". However, I had thought that a colour called
"cockpit interior night blue" was the usual basic paint colour used
for French cockpit interiors (although I think I recall some early
[pre-war?] bombers being some sort of buff/tan colour.

Details of French cockpit interiors are not to the forefront in my
reference collection and my trawl of the web has (so far) come up
naught.

Advice/suggestions please anyone?

Cheers,

Dave

French aircraft cockpit interiors: bombers and twin-engine craft used
chamois, a buff color. Fighters used bleu de nuit, a very dark blue similar
to the blue used on post WW2 U.S. Navy jets. The pomme vert green might have
been used on some interior components. Some aircraft, like the Caudron
fighter, had the cockpit painted Dark Blue Grey, one of the exterior
camouflage colors. Note that we are only talking about cockpit interiors.
Interiors of wheel wells, flaps, wings, engine capot, were painted chamois.

Excellent! Thanks for the info Brian. That's cleared that up for me
nicely.

Correction to my prior post concerning French AF cockpit colors of WW2.
Potez 63 twin-engine series also had interior cockpits painted bleu de nuit.
