Does anyone know if DML still plans to release this Sherman version?

It's not my spelling or grammar that's so bad. It's my typing.

No, there's no M4A2 in the 1997 DML Catalogue. There are :
Sherman Vc Firefly, M4A1 75 mm Early Version, M4A4 w/80 Lb rocket, M4A3Eg
76 (W) Sherman, Firefly Ic, M4A3 (76) W HVSS Sherman, M4A3 HVSS POA-CWS-H5
Flamethrower, Israeli m50 Super Sherman, M51 I-Sherman.

As far as I know they do, but the next one up on the docket is the M51
Sherman or "Isherman" version.

An M4A2 "Okinawa" was announced on the Marco Polo Imports website, but
then cancelled. No big loss, it would have been a late M4A2, and most
modellers would rather have an early model I think.

Bummer. USMC armor is one of my genres

Why would the late M4A2 be a loss? The early version is already available
from the Tank workshop, and looks pretty good.

It's better to have entered a model in a contest and lost, than to have collected stamps.

I have the late version TTW M4A2. It's nice. The early version,if it's
the same as done when together with Panzer Concepts, they used the late
style cast drivers' hoods as seen on the MP Models, Tamiya M4 & DML M4A4
kits. As far as I know, that style was not used on A2's. It's
contemporary A2 style was the welded type as seen on the unfortunately
terrible Verlinden kit. I,for one, would take any plastic M4A2 with a
separate engine deck. BTW, the TTW/Panzer Concepts early A2 would work
for a re-engined Egyptian M4 (Sherman I) assuming any were obtained from
the British. I have seen an Egyptian M32B1 ARV (cast hull) with a M4A2
style engine deck & exhaust. Sorry---rambling again. :-) Shermans do
that to me!! Tom

Look at the catalog numbers and see the big gaps. These are the surprize
issues that will appear in addition those shown in the catalog. Who
knows, there could be other Shermans lurking behind this veil of
secrecy.

Cookie, since you were given a pre-production copy of Academy's M18 do you
have any insider's news of where this one is at these days?

Thanks, Jon

Frank De Sisto had a pre-release copy at AMPS 97, and they say Spring 97
in the release sheet (gives them about five more weeks to cut it loose).

We just finshed shipping M-18 Hellcat kits to the West Coast today. That
means that by this weekend, every hobby shop in the country should have
this kit on the shelves.

I already have it in my hot little hands, one sale here in sunny
Singapore!! Very, very nice...they even give you option of either one
piece tracks, or link by link.

A sample of the M-18 kit was floating around Armor Expo this past weekend.
Overall, the kit looked really good in the box except for the green
plastic. The kit does give you a choice of vinyl or link and length
plastic track. Personally, I'd go with the latter. Cheers.

The price of the Academy M-18 Hellcat is thirty two U.S. dollars. It was
discounted down to 25.98 at Busy Bee Hobbies and Crafts in Moreno Valley,
CA.
