Hi all
Been reading the forum for a while and thinking about getting back into
modeling. What Im looking for is planes that I flew in the Navy as a
starting point. Been searching the net to no avail so I come to the
experts.

Is there any kits out there for the above models or will I have to find
the bare kits and convert myself (beyond my technical ability
currently).

Thanks

Rick

Twelve-Squared makes an EP-3E conversion kit in 1/144 for the LS kit,
and in 1/72 scale for the Hasegawa P-3 kit.

Hasegawa will most likely release (if it hasn't already) an EA-3B in
its A-3 series. The first two were A-3B and KA-3D I think.
Alternatively, the RarePlanes 1/72 A-3D vacuform kit has the parts to
convert to an EA-3B I seem to recall. Perhaps the lumps, bumps and
canoe can be spliced onto a more current Hasagawa A-3B kit.

Heller makes a 1/72 scale EC-121 kit.

With the right kits and some conversion parts, you should be able to
do all of these (or pretty close) in 1/72 without too much extra
effort.

I've also seen an EKA-3B (from Hase) which was an A-3 which could accept
different pallets/containers/whatever in the belly to hold fuel or
electronics. Don't know much more than that, though.

With all the GREAT input by all the individuals, Im most likely going to
go 1/72 and with Heller/Hasegawa combination with a couple of conversion
kits.

I havnt built models in many years so I will be taking my time (and
reading this group for tips) and see if I can come up with a decent
product to show. I may even post pics on a web site and let you all see
what you helped with.

Thanks for the input again gentlemen and I shall be lurking.

I recently bought a kit of the EC-121 Warning Star, it's in 1/72 scale from
Heller. I don't know if the markings are for WV-1 and what variant it is
(it's not specified in the instructions). But I know you can get
aftermarket decals from SuperScale, sheet #72-423. Bet you can find the
markings you want in there. The other two I don't know much about, but with
the recent release of Hasegawa's A-3 there's bound to be conversions sets
to be released. A recent article in my IPMS journal (IPMS Netherlands)
featured the P-3 and according to the author, two decent kits are available
: 1/144 from Arii and 1/72 from Hasegawa, the conversion to EP-3E you will
have to on your own I'm afraid.
Good luck and welcome back to this great hobby!

At one time War Eagle (IIRC) had an EP-3 conversion as part of one of it's
triple-conversion sets. It had the EP-3 parts (minus bomb-bay door vanes, and
other bits I'm sure, but the canoes and APS-20 bulge were there) along with
parts to convert Hasegawa S2F-1 into a C-1, and I can't remember what the third
conversion was.

This is actually a Falcon item (Triple Conversion II), which I think is
still available. I have one on my disposal list, BTW. ;)
