Hi folks,

I ordered about 10 cannisters of the XtraColor paints (otherwise known as
Hannants paints) directly from Hannants in the UK about 6 weeks ago and
today I received a letter saying that they (Hannants) cannot honour the
order because one needs to buy 30 Pounds Sterling of items in order for
them to accept the order.

So, I am looking in Canada/US for a distributor of these paints. I know
that R & J in California carries 11 of the more popular German/Soviet
colours but there are a few paints other than those R & J has that
interest me. Does anyone know of another outlet in North America that
carries the full range ?

Specifically, I am looking for XtraColour's Oily Steel - Tony Greenland
uses it to pick out shadow used/worn metal in the tracks, wheels,
sprocket etc...and the results are quite stunning ! He then goes over
this shadow with Tamiya's silver which gives him the results you see in
his work - I have to try this technique.

Mark,

You can order them from R&J Enterprises in CA, I don't have their address
handy but they advertise in FSM. I order all my Hannants thru them and
Rich is a great guy, who really knows his armor!

I'll second Todd's response. Battle Hobbies does carry the Xtracolour.

Also:

One Stop Model Shop ( Sarnia, Ont.) carries the full line
132 Ontario Street, Sarnia Ontario N7T 1L1 ( 519 ) 336 8181
David Payne is the owner - very knowledgable

PS: I use Diosol as a thinner with excellent results, speeds up dry
time tremendously. ( Sold mainly for floquil railroad paints)

Is it not a little ironic that there is a desire from American modellers to
get hold of 'Xtracolor' paints, made in the UK and fairly easy to get here.
Whereas we UK modellers are desperately trying to get 'Floquil' and other US
ranges of paint, which are hard to get here!.

Just a thought.

Tried buying any from Hannants recently? I ordered about ten
different colours and they only sent 5, the rest being out of
stock. Same story two weeks later. Well at least they don't
charge for what they don't send!
