My 4" diameter Little Joe II and 4" Mosquito have been quite good
flyers. The Mosquito went up on a H128 last time. The LJII on a G64
but it is strong enough for an H128 too.
But I want to build larger diameter versions of both with a 38mm mount.
The centering ring cutters that I have are adjustable but only extend
about 2 inches, which makes centering rings up to 4". Duh.
Is there anything available that will cut centering rings in the 5.4"
and 7.5" range? Or do I have to machine some kind of cutter shaft
that fits on my current adjustable cutters?
At the price that LOC wants for the big tubes I think I'll just purchase
the $100 minimun quantity from Paramount Tube. The only problem is they
do not have the exact 5.380 arbor. If anyone has a 5.38 nosecone and
would care to measure it, that would be great. Thanks
They do have the 7.515 diameter.

You can easily make centering rings with a router... if you have one. If
so, drop by your local library and pick up a book on router jigs and
techniques. It's pretty easy to do but you have to either purchase or
build the circle cutting jig. Hope I was able to help.

Another poster has already suggested a circle cutting jig for a router --
the same thing can be done very easily with a sabre saw, bandsaw, or
jigsaw; one could also rough-cut the rings with anything (even a keyhole
saw) and then sand them to final dimension with a jig and a belt or disc
sander.

I have a trepanning tool (circle cutter) from McMaster Carr that cuts
from 1.75 in. to 7.875 in. in dia. the price is very reasonable.
Check it out.

Ah yes, the ubiquitous McMaster-Carr Company. I have heard about them.
Do they really exist? You couldn't tell by requesting a catalog...

McMaster Carr catalogs are *very* hard to get ahold of, but they do
exist, and they ship very quickly, but alass the prices are high, but
so is their quality and the material they carry is vast........

The one I got is a General #55, and it is advertized as good to 6", but
looks like it will go to nearly 8". I recently saw one at Farm&Fleet (sorry,
I can't recall the brand, but it was probably VA or Irwin as those are their
brands of drill bits) that did go to 8". Since I only have an 8" drill
press, that's my limit anyway. If you DO go larger, you'll wnat to run a
VERY SLOW cutter speed to reduce vibration.
