Does anyone know of an Australian club or group around Brisbane?
I am interested in joining one. Alternatively, are there any
Australian Newsgroups on this subject.
Please help this beginner!

I am not saying there isn't one, but there isn't a newsgroup taht I am
aware of. We are certainly happy to have you join us here though. To
be honest, I have exchanged messages with people from the UK, Canada,
Germany, South Africa, France, Spain, and Denmark (probably left
someone out <g>) and the only "separate" group that I have seen is
that the New Sport Rocketry Forum on Compuserve has a International
Section.

I'll post the International section of the FAQ for this newsgroup.
Watch for it.

There is the Australian Rocketry Association.. they are contactable by
email at dscl...@nexus.edu.au

Many of their activities seem limited to South Australia and Western
Australia, but they provide benefits to all Aussie members in that
they are currently negotiating a waiver of 1000 feet for all their
members, as long as you're 1 km away from an airport (current
regulation put the ceiling at 100 metres, which is around about 300
feet).

They also have $5 million public liability insurance.

It costs $25 a year to join.

Not as far as I know - r.m.r is the only one, but it doesn't really
matter.
