Anyway. I glassed a 2.5''dai tube about 30'' long. It's the main Bt for my
Might kat. Cluster kit, 1 24mm with 7 18mm. It's on EMRR. I use this glass i
got from a model shop. It's 17 gm/m2 or .6oz/yd2. I also use Ripmax's SP
laminating resin. I had spoke to Aex about a few tips and i used em to do the
job. It all worked out well. I di 2 1/2 wraps and it's a solid as hell. Only
prob is a few air bubels at the left end and just needs a lot of sanidng on the
over lap. thats due to the colth sort of teathering. But im very happy. It
really does help if you have the right tools. The next one is vacume
bagging.!!!!!!
Any onbe have a recomendation of what girt sanpaper or what ever to use to get
the the airframe smothe? I live in the ukso what some have in the states i
might not have in the uk.
Cheers for looking.

Depends how rough it is. I usually start with 180 (120 if really bad!)
and work my way up. Depending upon the rocket and the amount of time
I'm willing to spend and the sort of finish I want, I might stop at
400 or 1200.
P.S. www.cfsnet.co.uk is a great place to get fibreglassing stuff in
the UK.

Cheers for the info. What type of glass or C/f do you get from these guys? Oh
what resin do you use too?
Pete
I've had various weights of glass, no carbon fibre. Resin is West
Systems.

West is good as is System Three. SP Systems 105/205 is great, Ampreg
is better still. Aeropoxy is meant to be the best if you can get it.

Yep, that's the one I usually buy. I don't do tons of glassing. The B
& C are just more of the same. The dispensers are worth having too. I
invested after mixing up a batch in the wrong proportions. All was OK
for a few minutes and then the epoxy went off in approx 10 seconds
flat with a puff of smoke and a lot of heat! Their expanding foam is
also good, and I got some pigment which I haven't tried yet, but am
hoping will remove the need for painting.

How do you quantify "better"?

Gives more consistent results, wets the cloth out better, doesn't run
so much, doesn't stink to high heaven.

That does sound better.
