I know it would be over powered, but it could be fun.

Possible, but maybe not advisable because of weight. I have an OS
BGX-1 in mine which is about the same amount of power, but it weighs about
a pound less. If I were to use a gas engine, I'd go with a Sachs 2.4 or
somthing equivalent because its much lighter that the stock G38.

In order to answer my question, I contacted Lanier Models today. They
said that lots of guys are putting the Zenoah 38 in the Stinger 120.
Some even put a Quadra 42 in it.
They suggest I mount the radio gear in the tail to offset the added
engine weight. Also, use epoxy for the wing spars, and this plane
would fly like the Big Stinger that flies with a Sachs 4.2 in it.

Now wait a minute, where did the G23 and the Giant stinger come in?
Jeff originally asked about a G32 in a Stinger 120. I think that the
power of
a G38 would be OK, but stock (with a mag, not electronic ignition), the
G38
would be too heavy. A G23 might be OK for weight, but it only puts out
the
power of a 120 4 stroke and is much heavier. I'd stick with a 120 4
stroke,
ST3000, or OS BGX-1 for the stinger 120.
As far as a Giant stinger, an ST3000 would be way too small as would a
G38. A guy in our club has one with a G63 and its still underpowered.
I'd go with a Sachs 3.2 and up for the Giant Stinger. In general
I think that the Zenoahs are very reliable, long lasting engines, but
they are
a little heavy for their power output (like Quadras).
I've put an OS 300 Gemini Twin on mine 2 weeks ago, WOW! Has to be one of
the funnest planes I've flown. I bought the plane with a Super Tigre 3000
on it and was about to dump it because it was getting boring. I bought
an OS 240 Gemini and put it on about 6 weeks ago and this was a blast. It
would climb slowly at full throttle in a vertical. Then 2 weeks ago I
picked up a 300 twin and swaped the 240 out. The plane hovers on the prop
at 1/2 throttle and accelerates to around 20-30mph at full in a vertical.
A very fun plane to fly now. I'm using a 20x10 prop. Makes a nice
helicopter now. 8^)
P.S. Anyone want to buy my 240?
