I have a Cirrus 900 FM that I bought sometime in 1986 from HobbyShack (I
think).

Does anyone know if they are still in business or whether they would be
compatible with newer receivers? I have two gliders, but only one RX, you
see.

Wouldn't happen to be the same Co. that makes video cards now?

Thankx,

Cirrus radios are sold by Hobby Shack. What channel is your radio on?
The transmitter will need to be narrow banded. This isn't a really big
deal. A good R/C radio shop can do it for under $50 I believe. Bad news
is your reciever is now a paper weight. You should be able to use any
Futaba compatable reciever ie. RCD,DAD or other third party
manufactures. I'm not familar with the 900 series but you might be
better off just buying one of the new makes of radio. Then you'll have
more servos and you will be sure the radio is really up to the gold
sticker standards

Main purpose of this is to find a compatible receiver to put in my 2nd
sailplane.

TX is Channel 50 (72.790 MHz) - 7 channel, FM, dual rates, pot. mixing.
It's a lot more radio than I could afford to buy nowadays. I'd hate to buy
a whole new setup just to get a RX and some servos...

Can the receiver be "converted" to narrow band also?

Does anyone know what's involved in "narrow banding" an old Transmitter? I
have quite a bit of experience with "hobby" electronics...

Does $55 sound bad for a Zebra Univ. receiver (8ch)? Will it work with my
wide-band Cirrus? http://www.zebradirect.com/universal.htm

Any answers to ANY of the above will help a lot.

Tanx,
