Hi there,

I have a two Futaba S5101 servos and I was wondering.... Are these
servos good or helis? And, Does anyone have specs on them? (i.e.:
torque & transit time?)

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Vince

Vincent,

Don't know how good there are for Helis, but if you want the spec have a
look at,

Hello Vincent,

For more information on servos and their specs try this site:
http://hoellein.com/websites/angebot/servofut.htm

I can recommand the Futaba S9202 and the Futaba S9203 for the tail and
even the new digital ones. But these are more expensive ones.

See ya

Thanks for responding Dave,
Unfortunately, the S5101 isn't listed at their site. I think that it
has been discontinued and replaced by one of their newer models....

Vincent,

Yep, it does look like they have been discontinued, the only thing I can
find is a listing on the tower hobbies site as included with a Futaba 7UHFS
Helicopter radio, and even that has been discontinued. So can't find the
spec but they must be OK for Heli as they where included in a Heli Radio
kit...! Also the replacement gear set is discontinued, so, old they are.....

The s5101 is a mini servo originally known as the s130. Its dual
BB, speed 240ms and output torque of 4kg. The s9101 is a
coreless version of the same servo.

WHEN IN DOUBT, TAKE IT OUT!!!

It is not financially sound to save $50 (S9202 at Heli World) to keep using a
servo that could quit and crash your heli.
When that happens you have to fix the heli, plus now you have to replace the
servo.
Lets see, spend $50 now or ~$75 for heli repair and the $50 for the servo,
later.
And then there is down time.
I think $50 is worth the peace of mind, that is, it is for me anyway.

Later,
