Fucking great fun flying it through a car window (open) and out the other
side, but (and it's a big but) I fear it would soon get old as it doesn't
have much in the way of aerobatic capabilities..
So.... which of the "indoor" leccies are good for 3D. At least I don't have
to learn how to fly upside down or learn how to do a backwards rolling
circle with the odd piro thrown in, but I want to do it in the warm and in
the dry and in the inside for a change.
What do I look for?
And if your comments are going to centre around Beav going electric, you can
fuck right off before you start :-)
I'm sat here waiting....

This is about the only "nano" sized heli that I've seen with collective
pitch. There may be others, haven't searched lately.

They have came a long way since the time of the "2 minute flights or up to 5
minutes if you run a cable to a power supply" days!
I bought one of those Blade 400 a couple of years ago and it has incredible
power to weight ratio.

Align's T-rex 250 performs quite well and seems to be of decent
quality. Probably a bit too large for living room flying, but if you
have access to a gymnasium or similar, you'll have plenty of space.

That one (Novus) looks like it could be the one. What a bitch though that
the Novus uses "normal" servo's where the E-Flite uses proper linear
servo's, something I've said was necessary for years.
Price is good, but I see that while the FP version comes with a CNC machined
rotor head, the CP has a plastic head. Granted there's an upgrade path, but
if there is, there's a need to have it and that pisses me off. No mention of
how many batteries come with the heli either or prices for additional packs.
The E-Flite batt can be had for pennies and the charger will charge 4 packs
at one time.
I shall explore this Novus some more I do believe.
Cheers Roger
I've got a brand new (never flown) T-rex 450 sat in my workshop with all the
upgrades available, plus two battery packs, the necessary charger and
balancer. All doing nothing coz I can't be arsed finding somewhere to fly. I
need TINY :-)

I also have a 450. I can't imagine a heli that is easier to find a
spot for. It can handle a decent breeze, and a big lawn works as a
flying field in a pinch.

OK, so we're talking living room size? I have also been looking for
something to replace the PicooZ, except with collective and cyclic
control. I read about the Novus a few days ago, so I hit Google to see
what other people have to say about it. Some people say that it is a
rebadge of an older Walkera model, and that Walkera's current model is
a better machine. I haven't looked at any details yet.

Indeed. But I want it capable of inverted flight at least.

I'll check out the Walkera site myself.
I've got a Piccolo Pro that I don't use any more with standard gear (i.e.
not Li-Po compatible) in it at the moment.
You can have that if you want.

Not THAT fucking tiny.
I'd thought about that, but then I thought "Electric?.... ME?... in 2009?"

I'm booked on one of the Arks and I can't get outside to fly.

I've got a very comfortable arse cozy :-)
Try this fucker
I'll fucking consider it, that's for sure.

Described in two words.
Fuckin' Brill.
Ahhh, my kind of speak :-)

I have looked into it bit more now. To me, there are two promising
candidates: The 4G3 and the 4G6. They have exactly the same rotor
diameter, but the 4G6 weighs almost 20g more. In return, it has a
shaft driven tail with proper pitch control, where the 4G3 has a motor
driven fixed-pitch tail rotor. 20g may not sound like much, but The
4G3 weighs only 68.4g, which means the 4G6 is almost 30% heavier.
Both models are available with brushless motor.
I was just about to order the '3 when Ivor pointed out the '6 (which I
thought was bigger). Now, I don't know what to do...

Loads of posts here about the 4g6( and every other heli), the 6 is
definitely (imho) the better heli.
So much so that two will be on order this very week. I need to find a UK
supplier as I'm not of a mind to stump up import duty or VAT in order to
"save" by getting something direct from the People's Republic.

Cheers,

Not utterly convinced Dave. It looks a little "less" than the 4g6 but costs
more. I'll investigate some more on these two, but I'm leaning heavily
towards the Walkera.
>It looks a little "less" than the 4g6 but costs

Comparing the 3DS with the 4G6, I'd say they are perfectly identical.

RoRo
Apart from a pretty substantial price advantage in favour of the Walkera.
And the Walkera looks far better finished too.
Buzz deluxe is 309 quid, 4g6 Premium 299 dollars. That's a fucking big
difference.
Orright, Beav ? Did you get one in the end ? What's it like ? Canirvago ?
Happy New Year to all,

Boo
Aye! :-)
>Did you get one in the end ? What's it like ? Canirvago ?
Walkera on order, so nothing to report just yet. Blade MSR bought and now
terrorising my dogs. And I got a Blade for the boy-chic too, so we can
engage in some aerial combat. The grandaughter is happy with a Picoo type
Hughes 300 (she's 5 years old) and she's terrorising the cats at her
house:-)

And the same to thee.
