I am currently interested in purchasing a particular model (Barracuda Sport)
from Bob Parkinson Models. Thier kits are relatively cheap, so I question
the quality. Does anyone have experience or gossip about this company and
thier kits, especially towards thier Barracuda model? They advertise that
thier kits are great 'jet-trainers', and I'm somewhat green in that field of
RC. Could someone else please recommend a good model if not BP models?

Parkinson kits are kinda like the 4-star 40 of the jet world. Not very sexy,
high tech or flashy, but fly nice. If you're on a tight budget, they can't be
beat. Low price is primarily due to less sofisticated designs that are easier
to produce and the fact that they are all wood kits. Not sure about the
Baracuda in particular, but the Regal Eagle is a great fan trainer. You won't
get the looks and speed of a BVM Bandit, but you'll have about $3,000.00 left
over for your next project.

A couple of guys in my club got jerked around by them really bad. Kits were
missing parts and took forever to get replaced - only after a ridiculous amount
of calls to get it straightened out. They both said that they'd never buy
anything from Parkinson again. They also said that they got even less than
they paid for - which wasn't much. These guys (customers) aren't really
demanding either - all they wanted was the missing parts that were supposed to
be in the box. The planes seem to be OK, but I'd be careful if I were you.

I built a F-18 for a club member several years ago and believe me it was junk lousy
plans and it died on the first flight. NEVER AGAIN.

How, or why, does the fact that it "died on its first flight" have anything to
do with the kit? Has every one of them "died on the first flight" for the same
or similar reason?
