Does anyone use the Great Planes RC Pilot Simulator? This is not
RealFlight, but a cheaper program that they advertise for $79 with a
controller interface included. How does it compare to RealFlight Deluxe or
RealFlight G2 in terms of realistic flight characteristics? I expect it to
have less of the bells and whistles features ... more interested in basic
flight characteristics.

I'm currently running RealFlight G2 and love it. I've been trying to talk
my Dad into buying a simulator, but I'm not sure he thinks he'll use it
enough to justify the cost of G2. I've looked at FMS, but really want
something with a controller. Also, the planes in FMS seem way too easy to
land in comparison with G2. RC Pilot Simulator looks decent, much cheaper
than G2, with an option to upgrade to RealFlight if he really likes it. Any
comments on this program welcome.

Thanks,

Carl

Hi Carl!

RC Pilot uses the same simulation model as the original classic RealFlight.
Nice flying sim. However, it does not have any of the adjustability of classic.

Heres the standard info we provide:

Thank you for your recent e-mail. R/C Pilot has been released for sale via
mail order and software stores. The goal is to encourage non-r/c hobbyists to
consider R/C, and, hopefully learn and enjoy the simulation enough to decide to
try the real thing.

While utilizing some of the same technology as RealFlight, RC Pilot is a
greatly simplified version with a reduced feature set. There are a broad range
of differences between the two products, not the least of which is that there
are 5 aircraft on RCPilot with 11 on RealFlight. Unlike RealFlight, the
airplanes are not editable, and instead have 3 "difficulty levels". In
addition, the controller is a simpler 4-channel unit, and is not a genuine
Futaba controller. Because of it's simplified feature set, R/C Pilot is not
compatible with RealFlight Add-Ons **OR with the new RealFlight Deluxe Upgrade
which includes helicopters****.

This more simplistic program is designed to help get newcomers into the hobby,
but does not have the high end adjustability and broad spectrum of models
required by a true R/C enthusiast.

I hope you find this information helpful,
