Can't understand why you'd want to...

No. Not in stock configuration anyway. You need a game port
interface.

You can convert a buddy box, though. There used to be a diagram on
someone's website for it.

I think he wants to use it as a controller. When I understood that you
thought he wanted to use it as a buddy box so as not to crash the planes in
RealFlight... ROTFLMAO!

thanks for replying. pls let me clarify.
can i use a buddy box to connect to the transmitter interface of real
flight sim? so that the buddy box can act as a controller just as IFly said.
btw i haven't seen buddy box physically myself. so need more info.
i understand that the transmitter interface will have to be connected to the
pc game port/serial/parallel port.
can buddy box work with real flight that way?

any comments?

thanks.

While this doesn't specifically answer your question, here is a link to the
RealFlight transmitter compatibility list,
http://www.gpsoftware.com/kb/q01-1021.htm

You might want to try technical support on the RealFlight web site.

I don't know for sure, but my guess would be no. I use an interface
with a Skysport radio and I have to turn the radio on for it to work.
Since a buddy box doesn't use a battery pack, I don't think that it
would work.

Hey, has anyone ever wondered if they have interfered with another
flyer when using Realflight? It seems kind of dumb to require that
the radio be turned on to work with a computer program. I pulled out
the crystal in mine but I am quite sure that there are a lot of users
who leave their crystals in and are happily practicing while
unknowingly interfering with other radios if they happen to live close
to a club.

A buddy box is typically the instructors radio set, if your transmitter has
a buddy box/ trainer socket on it someplace then YES it should work with any
flight simulator that can connect to this plug, e.g. Realflight, FMS,
Aerofly, Tru-Flite, Dave Brown etc. Also available from Ripmax in the UK is
an interface to connect from your trainer socket to the game port. Just
check the manufacturers websites for the sims to see if they are compatible
with your TX.

Excellent point David. I think I'll remove the Xtal just to be safe. Lee

The buddy box will not operate, no. You must use a real, powered transmitter.

We DO recommend removal of crystal or module for protection of the radio.

OK, since lots of "buddy boxes" out there are spare transmitters with the
antennea, crystals and batteries removed, all one needs to do is put the
charged-up battery back in and it ought to work.

Cheers,
