Has anybody used the track, more specifically the turnouts, made by
Micro Engineering? I'm trying to decide what to use on the switching
contest module I'm designing. At the NMRA convention in Long Beach a few
years ago I saw their stuff in the booth that they had. It had a sort of
"snap action" or positive movement that looked like it helped to ensure
good electrical contact between the points and the stock rails. I like
that idea since this is always such a critical area in model train
operation. I'd like to hear some feedback if anybody is using this on
their layout.

Rick:
You didn't mention what scale you're modeling in; I'm using their turnouts in
N scale. Specifically, the code 55 stuff, which is fantastic looking. The
snap-action really does work, making for a tight fit of points to the stock
rails. If you're using a Tortoise or stall motor mechanism to move the points,
remove the spring in the ME turnout, elsewise you may not get the turnout to
move completely. I've got a few that I'm using the Caboose Industries ground
throws and it doesn't seem to matter whether the spring is left in the turnout
or not.
They have all-rail frogs, so beware the wiring of them (feed from points end
only, etc.)
