I've been getting these 'Legendary Train' cards in the mail from Atlas
Editions to put into a 3-ring binder they supplied. The pictures are
fantastic in quality, although better shots could be done for some of
them. The information on the back of the cards appears to be very good.
Having these pictures of trains from around the world is making it
easier to amass a comprehensive train picture collection rather than
spending a lot more money on a book or photograph for each item. Anyone
agree with me? Do you think the information is very accurate? Anyone
know how much longer this subscription is gonna go on, as I'd like to
know if I'm going to be spending $300 or $2000 in the long term.

Hopefully I'm not being duped... :-/

Thanks!
Adam

I too have been receiving the cards for some time now. They're packed with
more info than I could possibly absorb. I have no idea how long the sub
lasts or how many cards there are in total. Something else I'd like to know,
is Atlas going to keep up with new locos as they are introduced?? The one
thing I don't like so far is that Atlas is VERY slow in posting payments; I
just got a shipment in this week and they show me owing $77.00. A payment
was sent in weeks ago. This happens every month. You might to the Atlas
Editions web page to find out more info.

I got this 'Legendary Train' cards offer also. Their introductory offer was
"sneaky" to say the least. "Yes, the initial trial cards are free - but they
are not free - and send 99c if you don't want our next package...."
So I cancelled. I cannot foresee them exhausting the stock of 'Legendary
trains' we model railroaders have created in our minds. Therefore, I also
cannot foresee them cutting off this steady stream of $$$. As long as the
bucks continue to pour in, they will continue to click photographs.
I have to say that the quality of the photographs, the descriptions and the
format in which the entire package is put together (3 ring binder etc) is
definitely good. It has all the makings of a graphical reference library.

You are very correct in stating that the into offer was "sneaky". Of I and
anyone else that has the smallest inkling of smarts know that you don't get
something for nothing. There had to be a catch. Hey, I can't carry it with
me, might as well spend it before I die. I have received some very cool
drink coasters with train photos on them, a key ring in the shape of a 2-4-0
American type loco, and my billl this month says I'll be receiving with my
next shipment a "one-of-a-kind Pewter Train Figurine". Will try to post a
description of it when it arrives.

Here's a reply I got from Atlas Editions concerning how many sets of cards
there will be:

quote:
We have projection of 32 shipments that consists of 94 decks which includes
10 cards per deck.

I figger that works out to about $900 or so for the whole shootin match.
