and <drum roll> the number one thing that will get here before
Highliner A-units is...
1) Intermountain F Units
Andy
I dunno about the rest of youse guys, but when BN put the track back
down on Stampede Pass I know that darn near anything was possible, even
Highliner A units coming soon.
Naaah. That would be like Michael Jackson becoming a father.
Waitaminnit....
HEY! How about a Highliner Baldwin Centipede???
Sorry kids, Paul Lubliner (sp?) has, claims by friends nothwithstanding,
about as much credibility as a lawyer. I'll believe the A units when
I've got one in my sweaty hands and then still ask somebody to pinch me
to see if I'm awake.
Now is that "year" an earth year or Jovian year...

Umm, Andy, didn't this sort of happen last year... and being what it
was, I don't think I need a full CD's worth.

Yeah, but John Lennon wasn't alive, so it really doesn't count.
(yes, I have the CD and know of the Lennon-on-tape)

I hope they are going to be available in the Burlington Northern
Santa Fe Norfolk Southern Union Pacific Wisconsin Central's new color
scheme. Probably be extra work to fit that reporting mark on the side
though.

Actually they will be available in one paint scheme only, just like
the prototype - solid black with white block letters on the side, N &
W, for NORFOLK and WORLD.
Andy :)
Tsk, tsk. Both you fellows have forgetten the rule of RR mergers:
UP + X = UP, where X=ALL Railroads.

Andy, you 1970s apologist... They're going to be black with imitation
gold Gothic "N&W" lettering and half-moon heralds on the cab and nose,
just the way God and Roanoke intended :)

it will certainly be interesting. i dont think that NS will be interested in a
name change. is the announced change for the combined CSX/Conrail still going
to happen now that NS gets soooo much?
i hear that the final fallout is going to involved 2 railroads, NS and UP . ..
or, those company's will be doing the buying . . . .
>> At the Santa Fe Historical Society's convention last weekend I heard a

That was kicked around in another thread before this one, which is
where I got the idea <g>. I've heard some very conflicting things
about this one, but I'm sure I'll get the straight story from Frank at
the show next week. Whether they bought the existing dies or not,
they'll still get here first (if indeed they are doing an F-unit).
Paul I don't expect to show up... although he was roaming around at
Long Beach last year, in disguise as a member of the Pasadena club
<g>. But the three Highliner B-units he was carrying around kinda
gave him away...

Well...of the two, Norfolk Southern... surprisingly or not, has (or at
least before buying into Conrail "had") a lot more money than UP. As I
recall, there were rumors in some of the trasnsportations newsgroups
back during the Conrail bidding war that NS Chairman David Goode
threatened the STB that if he were denied Conrail, NS' next move would
be to BUY Union Pacific. Even had a name for it too. :)
It was only then that the STB supposedly put the pressure on CSX and
Conrail to let in NS. If it's true then Mr.Goode must be one hell of a
poker player. But you have to admit "Norfolk Pacific" would be quite a
name for a railroad. LOL

Three?????...he had...THREE????? What a country...when a man can carry
around 5 years worth of production under one arm. LOL
Bob
Vulcans with ears, or Vulcans with side rods?
Brad
>Andy, ever think of using non-toxic cement? :)
Hey... I think my explanation for why Paul hasn't finished the F-unit
is as logical as any I've heard <g>. Leave it to the Vulcans to clear
away the rhetoric...
Andy
I like the name. The Appropriate Paint Scheme would have been NS black,
with a UP yellow along the bottom edge and up the nose, and a UP red
pinstripe separating.
Unlikely event though.
Compare a list of who got chunks of CRI&P to a list of who UP has
mergelized.
NS didn't get any CRI&P. CSX got some CRI&P line around Blue Island.
CSX is next.

...BEV-BEL is working on them, even as we speak...john...
(from RUMOR-STARTING 101, p.3)
Ouch ouch ouch . . . I suppose that with the three I've got we can
account for a significant part of the B units production.
...reminds me of our local used car lot...the owner's name is ARTHUR
BENTON...he had a new sign made up to read "A.B.USED CARS"...but from
about 150-ft away the sign reads "ABUSED CARS"!!!...john...

Hey, it just hit me: All NS will have to do is blank out the B and the
F. The NS marks are already there..

Nah. You mean BNSF will only have to add a "B" and an "F" when they BUY
NS.
